How do shuttles work?

Alexandra, on September 13, 2023 at 12:33 PM Posted in Planning 0 2

A lot of the transportation vendors I am looking at give price quotes per hour, but my question is do you get charged for the entirety of your wedding, even though the shuttle is only in operation for 15 minutes each way? So for example if your wedding is 5 hours and a half hour of travel back and forth, are you charged for 5 and a half hours? Or only the half hour of travel?

Thanks!

Most companies have a minimum amount of hours they charge you for regardless of how long they're driving. If you're wanting shuttles at the beginning and end of the reception, they'll likely charge you for the whole time because they can't fit another reservation in the middle. The best way to find out is to call and get quotes from any companies you're considering.

Before the whole trend of “the couple must cover all guests’ travel/transportation costs” came into being, we priced out shuttles and quickly decided against them. They have 4 hour blocks minimum that they don’t intersperse when you need them, and you are charged for the entire block whether you need it for 5 minutes or 3 hours. We decided not to go with shuttles for that reason. Also being in a major city and our out of area guests always rent their own vehicles so the extra expense didn’t make sense to us and no one missed it. While we did serve alcohol, our families and friends always have a designated driver even though many guests didn’t drink anything regardless of how late the reception lasted
