How are you sealing your wedding invitation envelopes?

Rachel, on January 12, 2022 at 7:00 PM Posted in Planning 0 14
Hi, Everyone -

This is kind of a silly question, but how are you dealing your wedding invitations envelopes? I’ve heard all different things and I never knew it had to be so complicated! Some have recommended tape guns, some are using liquid adhesive, some are just doing the old fashioned lick of the envelope… what will you be doing? I’m planning on mailing mine out in early February so I want to get some ideas or recommendations!

Our envelopes have an adhesive strip on them, we just peel off the paper and close the envelope!

We got our envelopes off of Amazon and the pricing wasn't bad, if you're looking to get new envelopes with the adhesive strip!

Also, you should be able to edit your post if you're on a computer (as opposed to mobile). I think it only lets you edit for a short period of time after posting it though (I think an hour?).

I ordered a thing off of Amazon that looks like a bingo dobber and it does the “licking” for you.

We used glue sticks. Made life so much easier.

I also plan on using glue sticks. I work for a small business that does printing/mailing/shipping and we usually use glue sticks for closing envelopes. If it's good enough for sending hundreds then my 60 will probably be fine lol

I just licked mine and added a fancy seal. I also only mailed out 25 invitations, lol. If you're sealing a lot I'm not sure you'd want to lick them all...

We licked them and then added a wax seal to them. It was relaxing in my opinion and made the invite look fancier than it was.

I used liquid adhesive because I despise licking envelopes and the thought of licking over 100 made me want to lose my mind haha. Here's the link if you're interested: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00R3APBUE/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Licking the glue or whatever alternative they have on the market to get the glue wet. Possibly adding a sticker of some kind to make sure they stay since the quality of glue lately has gone downhill and doesn’t stick at all on its own. Especially if the recent Hallmark Christmas card envelopes are anything to go by.
