How are you announcing your engagement?

We called our family as soon as it happened because FH told them he was going to do it on our trip so they were anticipating hearing from us. After we told our families, we texted our close friends.

We then changed our Facebook relationship a few days later with a picture from our trip to announce our engagement. I have a lot of family and friends on Facebook that we wanted to know but didn't feel the need to personally call because we aren't as close. Most people hate Facebook but its how I keep up with a lot of my family/friends since I live 1000 miles away from my hometown.

Hi FutureMrsKC! Your game-plan for announcing your engagement was perfect! I totally agree, as much as social media & Facebook are " frowned upon", they really are a handy tool for staying connected with some relatives, friends, and others that aren't as close in proximity or you don't see as often. Thanks for sharing.

We were engaged in front of our closest family and friends. We text family/friends who couldn't be there right after and sent them video. Then we posted on our social media later that night. but even if we didn't post to social media, the ones in attendance had already began lol

We were out of the country. We announced via phone calls, text & facebook. He already told my family prior to leaving, so honestly facebook probably saw first after the initial proposal bc of the time difference in Europe vs the US lol

Announced on Facebook and texted my Dad. That was it.

My FH and I made a little video and sent everyone the link for you tube.

I called everyone. I also changed my status on FB.

We called and texted all of our close family and friends first and then we announced it on social media! We thought it was important for those close to us to hear it from us personally and individually first!

No social media announcement. We called people - we are old school! We thought his mom would run an engagement notice in the paper but she did not do that.

Never considered a FB announcement: "Congratulations!! Are we invited???"

Makes sense MI should be lovely in August for a late Summer wedding!

We announced it on Facebook!

Called close family members then changed status on facebook and posted pic on IG.

We called friends and family personally to tell them. We changed our relationship status on Facebook about a week later.

Hi Lex! There's no doubt about it, FB is definitely a great tool for getting the word out to all family & friends, old and new.

My mom was at the proposal taking pictures, so the first thing I did was call my MOH! We didn't do a formal announcement in the paper or anything. We just posted the photos from the proposal on Facebook and called a couple family members.

She knew ahead of time! He had arranged for her to be there so the could take pictures!

We were on a cruise and he had proposed on one of the islands and wanted to enjoy the rest of the cruise without telling anyone so it can be quiet and plus we were over seas and in a different country so we did not have service. However when we finally got service we did a snap chat video of us and IDK how people on both of our snap chats noticed my finger that barely had it showing and people starting asking and commenting on snap and contacting us on social media and then family members were contacting us asking why they were not notified so we decided to make a post and announce it ourselves at the same time. Prior to that I had called my parents to tell them (they knew he would already) and the rest we texted our closest family and friends. However that 1 small snap chat video of where we were started the whole thing which was our fault we should of thought to keep my left arm out of the video.
