Hotel room blocks/getting ready

Alyssa, on March 15, 2021 at 12:34 PM Posted in Planning 0 18
Hello fellow brides!
My fiancé and I are getting ready in a hotel and are booking a room block. I just wanted to know if any other brides are doing the same? We are touring our hotel tomorrow!

For my sister's wedding, we all got ready in a hotel suite! It was actually two adjoining rooms. We had the hair stylist setup in one room, and makeup artist setup in the other room, and we left the door in between the two rooms open so everyone can interact and hang out in either room.

Yes, we are getting ready at the rooms we booked which are on site to the venue. My suggest would be to make sure you give yourself enough time as some hotels do a later check in time. I’d suggest noon check in, but that’s just me. Also get the room for yourself that has the MOST natural light! This will help greatly with your photos

We did room blocks at 2 different hotels. This gave our guests options. However, we did not get ready or stay at the same hotel. We each had a cabin to get ready in that was part of our venue. And we had a wedding night cabin to stay in.

We have a block of rooms at one hotel for guests. And then the wedding party at a different one. We will be staying at that hotel and get ready in my suite.

Yes I did. It’s very close to the venue so it was an easy choice. I have yet to go an take a look at it yet.

Our wedding is in a hotel ballroom, so we definitely made sure to book the largest suite in the hotel for getting ready!

We're doing this! We'll be getting hair and makeup done at the same hotel as the block and then getting dressed in the bridal suite at the venue.

We got married at a hotel but the bridal getting ready room was actually a conference room in the hotel. It was beautiful with a big table (and lots of outlets!)
that was great for getting ready and had an attached massive terrace perfect for pictures. Super spacious.

Yes, we're having a destination wedding so we didn't have much choice 🤗

We did! We booked a large suite for getting ready (and my husband and I stayed there that night) and we did our first look in the hotel lobby since it had a grand staircase and pretty chandeliers

We are not staying at our hotel block since it is 20-25 minutes away from our church and reception venues. Our reception is in our backyard and I think we will just crash right into our own bed. LOL.

We are getting ready at the hair salon in town then will move to the church to get into our dresses.

Our reception is actually at the hotel which was a huge point for us as we have a lot of out of town guests. We get a block of rooms at our hotel so all of our guests don't even have to leave the same building after the reception is over. We also then are adding on a bridal suite so me and my girls can get ready there and the guys will get ready in another room in a different part of the hotel. I think it's a great way to have the space to get ready as well as convenient for our photographer to get from guys to girls and vice versa more easily.

Hi! I’m thinking about getting ready in a conference room as well. Did you have any issues with guests seeing you or any of the bridesmaids as they were checking in that day? Thanks!

This makes the most sense if you're local. A hotel room block is more logistical for a destination wedding.

While nearly all of our guests will have to travel, it just makes more sense..at least for the girls in our case..to get ready at home when it's more relaxed and more space to move in.

Thankfully, no! Since our event was a destination wedding, everyone flew in the day before for our welcome party. The conference room was on a very high floor and the venue coordinator wrangled it so we were walked down and hidden from guests. It's funny, I have a very clear memory of taking the elevator to my husband for our first look, but I have zero memory of me with all my girls in the elevator! It's like we were transported to our holding house for the ceremony!

Absolutely yes, we have a lot of people coming from out of state or out of town, and there is a hotel that is in a PERFECT central location, 10 minutes from the ceremony site, 2 minutes from the reception hall. The hotel has been great with accommodations and very easy to work with.
