Hotel Nights

Renee, on December 28, 2019 at 3:50 PM Posted in Planning 1 42

How many nights are you all booking for the wedding. We are getting married on a Sunday. I was thinking 2 nights would be ideal. Saturday night, Sunday night and check out Monday for our day after brunch.

That's probably enough, unless there are a lot of things you need to get done on Saturday to prepare for the wedding (in which case you might want to stay Friday night).

Do you anticipate a lot of people will be able to stay until Monday for brunch? With a Sunday brunch after a Saturday wedding, most people are still there. But many people want to go back to work on Monday.

Ask if they do flex days! Just in case out of town guests come in a day or so before you’re expecting/want to stay later. When I worked in hotel sales, I would always block 4 rooms for 2 days before and 2 days after the contract so the rate was available for those coming in. It worked for us because we didn’t require a minimum booking or $$$ for the contract.

I clearly posted that we are getting married on Sunday. So no, our day after brunch will be Monday.

We aren't doing a hotel block. I was specifically asking for bride and grooms stay at the hotel.

Oh, got ya! Then I’d say that’s more than enough. I’d ask for a late check out Monday, just in case!

Most of our guests are local or are teachers and will be off for summer break. Most out of town guests are leaving Tuesday. Taking off Thursday and Friday for a Saturday wedding is equivalent as taking off Monday and Tuesday for a Sunday wedding.

Let me clarify, I am specifically asking about the bride and grooms stay. Which is why I didn't say room block. I don't think I was specific enough. Sorry about that. I could care less when the guest come or leave. If they aren't apart of the wedding they can come Sunday and leave Sunday for all I care. LOL!

No worries. I was like I know I put Sunday! I told one of our venues our wedding is June 6th. It's not, it's the 7th. I just always think about "Bride Wars" the movie.

"Saturday June 6th at the Plaza, done!" LOL

I've never seen people take off Thursday and Friday for a Saturday wedding. Maybe Friday, if they have to fly cross-country, but otherwise they tend to arrive Saturday afternoon and leave Sunday.

However, you know your own guest list. If they are teachers who don't need to work Monday, or are planning on staying until Tuesday anyway, it will work.

I guess it's a cultural thing. We celebrate for days before. If you want to be apart of the celebration you are usually there for a mini-vacation. We pray for the house that couple will be living in, even if they already live together. Cousins meet up and go out. We have church were families pray and bless the couple. Multiple brunches and dinners. It's a party!

I think two nights (the night before and night after) is perfect providing you live not too far from your venue and you don't have a ton of decorating to do. If you are traveling, or have to completely transform your venue and you have access to the property earlier, you may want an extra night or two.

We are getting married on a Saturday and have access to the property starting Thursday afternoon, and our venue includes an on-site AirBnB for Friday and Saturday. We only live about 25 minutes from our venue, so if we need to do any prep earlier we'll just drive up for the day to do it.

I have family coming from all over and our wedding is going to be on a Sunday as well, so we are just doing the whole weekend. We are not paying for the rooms though. We are jut setting the room block from Friday-monday Smiley smile

Our venue is 20 minutes away as well. We don’t have to worry about decorations the planner will handle that. I Know some of our family will be staying in our home and was debating on whether or not I wanted to be around them all for multiple days... selfish I know lol 😂 especially after wedding.

Same with us! Our AirBnB has three bedrooms, so we plan to stay there, along with my MOH and her boyfriend, and a third couple (we haven't decided who yet). We want our dog to be a part of our ceremony, so ideally someone who is traveling will just stay at our house in exchange for watching our dog and shuttling him back and forth to the ceremony. Right now I'm thinking my mom and MOH will come up Thursday, stay with us in our house, and then my mom will stay at our house all weekend (with my cousins, who will come up on Friday) while we are at the AirBnB. So many logistics to sort out!

Having family around can be overwhelming for sure. I definitely appreciate the help and having them up to celebrate with us, but we're hoping the stay is short so we can bask in newlywed bliss, just the two of us!

Sounds good to me! We had a Sunday wedding and that’s what we did. Checking in on Saturday was a MUST. We had time to unload all our stuff and unpack in the room so I could be sure I had everything and knew where everything was.

Then of course it was nice to have our wedding night in the hotel too Smiley smile we almost booked it for Friday night as well but last minute decided not to. We only live like 20 mins from the venue and I always sleep better in my own bed so it was better for us to sleep at home on Friday. Luckily the hotel gave us an early check-in on Saturday so we got to go in the room and start unloading at noon.

Our wedding is on a Sunday in the summer as well, and we are about 20 minutes from our venue which offers lodging. I was thinking of blocking off rooms from Friday to Sunday for both guests & us except we will stay somewhere else that Sunday night after wedding for privacy.
