Hotel blocking in Leesburg or Dulles

Alyssa, on September 17, 2019 at 9:17 PM Posted in District of Columbia Planning 0 4
Hi! We’re aiming to get married on a Saturday in loudon county / Round Hill, Va in fall of 2020. To the best of our ability, we liberally guesstimated that our wedding guests would need ~55 rooms. We are debating on having a rehearsal/welcome dinner on Friday night at our venue versus near the hotel that most guests would be staying. Does anyone have any recommendations for hotels in either Leesburg or Dulles area? Preferably near a nice restaurant that would host a dinner? Also does anyone have a formula to gauge how many rooms we would need? What’s the wedding block etiquette? Any advice would be appreciated!

What about in the Dulles Town Center area? Is Ashburn too far?

    Welcome to the community Alyssa!

When estimating how many rooms you will need to block book, you should make a list of anyone that you think will need to book accommodation. If these guests decide not to book this hotel, then the hotel will simply take the unused rooms back.

I would definitely check out Booking.com to find well-rated hotels in the area. You can also simply use Google Maps to find hotels within a certain radius so you know that it is central to where you want your guests to be based. ONce you have decided on some hotels, you can contact them and ask about their Block Booking policies, as hotels can vary.

We used the hotel planner site run by wedding wire. You estimate how many rooms you need, the area and a price range and the hotel reaches out to you on the site and via email with their discounted rate. It is a courtesy block so you don’t have to pay for the rooms, the guests are responsible are paying for their own room. To get the discounted rate the hotel sets up a site for your guests to book on and can track how many rooms have been booked. It’s better to over estimate rather than under estimate because whichever rooms are not booked they just go back into the hotels inventory after the deadline. Hope this helps!

Do you know what kind of food you are looking to have? Based on food choice I’d look at hotels. There’s a bunch in leesburg and Dulles but it depends on your price point too.
