Hotel Block Quote Expired - will it be way more expensive for my guest now?

Marie, on March 2, 2020 at 2:40 PM Posted in Planning 0 4
I am getting married over Labor Day weekend (Sunday) 2020. I got quotes for hotel blocks over Thanksgiving, then some personal things happened where wedding planning was put aside. I’m finally back and found the quotes from the hotel block company have expired. There’s an option to “re-activate” the quote. Will this give me the same terrific price, or am I out of luck and my guests will be paying $60-80 more a night? I’ve gotta take care of this in the next few days- anyone been in this situation?

The easiest way to find an answer for this is to just reach out to the hotel. This will vary because some hotels raise their prices when the new year happens and some don’t.

Sounds good. I went through a third party free service, but maybe it will be a better deal if I just call the hotel.

Likely prices have gone up but just reach out to them by phone before doing anything else.

Reach out directly to the hotel— I got better results that way. I was able to negotiate our rates and getting more concessions that way.

We did do a 40-room block (at a boutique hotel that had about 80 rooms) and we hosted our afterparty at their restaurant so they really prioritized our guests. My guests were able to get really early check-in, they price-matched any third party rates our guest would find online, and the best part was that if our guests had already booked through a third-party website, we could have them added to our room block and it would count as part of our guarantee.
Obviously, more rooms you can commit to, the more willing they’ll be to work with you!
