Honeymoons with some history

Lisa, on January 11, 2020 at 5:16 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 10
FH and I are trying to pick a destination for our honeymoon! We are getting married on October 10th and will leave a day or two after. We originally wanted to go back to Italy to visit different areas but that’s just not in the budget since we are paying for the wedding ourself.

FH doesn’t like flying and I think to save on airfare we want to stay in the US. So far we have thrown around the idea of Lake Tahoe or Portland Oregon. We live in Las Vegas, I’m from San Diego and he’s from Chicago so staying away from those areas!
Any other ideas!? I’ve googled and searched and can’t seem to find something that truly intrigues me/us.
We do like the outdoors, but prefer a places a little historic. We like coffee shops, good restaurants, maybe so wine tasting and tasty desserts!

Washington DC. The place of history. You could do the NE. Pennsylvania, Salem MA & Boston. Visit Yosemite National Park.

Historic Downtown Annapoils Maryland is always nice, history and shopping, quaint restaurants & inns. Plus the “new Annapoils is nearby

Old Town Alexandria Virginia I also good. The shops and restaurants are amazing. It’s also got a few nice little hotels and bed and breakfasts. Close to Washington DC & Mount Vernon, and with a ferry to take you across to “National Harbor Center” and it’s shoportunities

If you want outdoors, I'd say Colorado, wyoming or even Montana. They have some beautiful places to stay and tons of outdoor activities l. Great restaurants and fun shopping. I am sure some towns have a rich history as well.

Boston would be fun! Lots of historical sites and things to do. They have an awesome mix of restaurants/bars/coffee shops. It is also very easy to navigate with the T.

The CA coast is spectacular. Why not drive up highway 1 to Oregon. My fiance did this in parts and have LOVED it every time. The views, weather and company are unique and simply can't be beat. We've driven from The Bay area up to the Oregon/CA border through the Redwoods and I wish we could do every weekend.

That's funny that you say that - I think we decided on Seattle!! We won't drive since we will have a week which I don't think is enough time to drive and enjoy it all.
