Honeymooning on Maldives or Tahiti

Back and Honeymooned - Tahiti, Bora Bora, Moorea (Pic Heavy!!)

I always assumed I would honeymoon in Tahiti but when it came down to it I decided I didn't want to deal with a flight that long after the stress of a wedding.

We did the Maldives about 2 years ago and it was amazing but honestly I don't think it would have been worth the price and flight time to go JUST there (we went for a few days added on after Sri Lanka).

Unless you are independently wealthy the prices really are tough to swallow (even for the lower end properties) and then once you get there the food and drink prices are ABSURD. I literally packed Lipton instant soup mix to use with the electric kettle and smuggled stuff out of the breakfast buffets so that we could skip lunches (not normal behavior for me haha).

Have you thought about a cruise? My fiance and I just booked a cruise for our honeymoon that goes to Hawaii, Bora Bora and Tahiti. It's not that expensive and you get to see a few places.

We booked Mo'orea through Tahiti.com. We go in March 2020. It's the island next to Tahiti. We're so excited. The travel agent was able to schedule us atv tours, jetski tours, snorkeling with sharks and stingray, massages, and private sunset dinners, and overwater bungalows! We did a ton of research and we're so excited.

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding and honeymoon! Husband and I had a wonderfully dreamy time at the Cinnamon Dhonveli resort in Maldives. We are constantly reliving our stay through Instagram posts, because even after over a year, we STILL feel surreal about our trip! We picked this resort based on two requirements: overwater bungalow for me, and easy access, uncrowded surf for him.

View Quoted Comment Thank you! Yes we have! Neither one of have ever been on a cruise and were a little hesitant on going for our honeymoon in the event we both get seasick. Great thought! It’s definitely on my bucket list lol
