Honeymooning in Bali

FutureMrsBurroughs, on May 22, 2017 at 4:18 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 14

We are trying to decide on where to honeymoon. Prior to the proposal we were planning on taking our vacation to Bali in September. Now with the wedding we will obviously not be going in September. FW is not as keen on the idea of Bali anymore due to us paying for our own wedding/honeymoon. Have any of my fellow WW brides/grooms been to Bali? How much did it actually cost? I am trying to estimate but wanted to know your real life experiences. Thanks so much!

    Following, also looking into Bali. We hear it's cheap there food and excursion wise but flights could be astronomical.

    Thanks @Mrs.Coakley! Yes we are going to Bali. We are actually flying into Phuket. We got our flights out of San Francisco for $700 round trip per person. Flights from Phuket to Bali are roughly $150 round trip. This all depends on where you are coming from and time of year of course. Denpasar is the main airport there. I've heard Ubud is a must see! You can get amazing hotel rooms for $100 or more. Cheaper in different areas. Let me know if I can help!

    I have looked into flights and (we are on the east coast) from what I have seen I think we can fly from ****. Everything that I have found seems to point to the flights being the most expensive part of the trip. Apparently you can get private bungalows, that are gorgeous, for $70-100 a night. @Erin how long are you guys going for?

    We are going to Bali in September. Our current budget is looking like $6700 all in.

    This include flights, 2 weeks, 5 days at 5 star resort, 2 tours for the other 9 days and food and transportation.

    Our current breakdown is:

    Flights = $1400

    Visa + Hotel = $260

    Tours = $1240

    Food + Extras = $350

    Samabe Resort = $3400

    @FutureMrsBurroughs - Depending on when you go, if it's low season prices can drop. And depends where you stay. If you want high end, it's not cheap at all.

    Bali is practically second home for us Australians. It's cheap but not as cheap as other S.E Asian holiday spots. There are some areas you should really avoid too but it ultimately it is very beautiful. I would recommend going to the Gili Islands too. Just a ferry ride away from Bali, they are pretty idealic and the perfect honeymoon spot

    @shaybird I have heard of the rock bar and actually "pinned" it as a place to see. Also heard about the traffic being not so much fun.

    @VC We aren't looking for high end or super fancy. Our idea is to enjoy the local culture with some of the amenities of home (like a clean place and a/c). We want to see the monkey Forrest and climb mt. Batar (I think that is what it's called) for the sunrise. We want to have a good time but not looking for fancy.

    The monkey forest is fab! Those monkeys are absolute bastards though. Keep close eye on your handbag!

    @Natalie J. I have read some info about the Gili islands and heard it was beautiful! We will look into it! So the rumors about the monkeys are true! That's crazy.

    Then heading to Java for the overnight mountain trek and Ijen Blue Flames crater.

    Then heading to Nusa Due for resort in Samabe overlooking Indian Ocean by the cliff and just relax for the last 5 days.

    @FutureMrsBurroughs- I think we'll do 5 days in Bali and 9 days island hopping around Thailand. You can definitely get great prices on bungalows. I noticed that Ubud is a little more expensive. Are you looking at Airbnb?
