Honeymoon

Hello all!

My fiance and I are getting married in Sept 2021, and we are starting to look into booking our honeymoon. We are not sure exactly how to go about planning due to current travel restrictions internationally/to islands, etc. Would you recommend going through a travel agent?

Also, what are some recommendations for good resorts/location? We are in NC and don't really want to spend more than 10+ hours on a flight (unless maybe Hawaii). We've looked into all of the "big name" places like Maldives, Bora Bora, Thailand, etc but the flight is too much for us. We would probably want somewhere in the Caribbean or Europe.

He is a beach guy and I love to explore- so somewhere with a mixture of both would be good! Thanks.

We went to curaçao last year for the snorkeling and it was great. There is some hiking but it’s a desert island so lots of cacti. I’ve heard great things about Puerto Rico and Costa Rica that might be more adventurous.

We’re going to Jamaica for our honeymoon. We wanted an all inclusive resort so I checked out Sandals. OMG! It has everything we’re looking for! I just payed off our honeymoon & am super excited about it! Scored a 1 bedroom honeymoon suite villa with a butler for 7 days for $3949 for both of us!
I compared all inclusive resorts in Hawaii & compared to this, we got a lot more bang for our buck.

Hotel Xcaret Mexico! It is in the Playa Del Carmen region. It has that beach vibe yours hubs wants but comes with lots of adventure parks and excursions. Look into it! You probably won’t be disappointed. Good luck!

Do you plan on getting the vaccine? Many countries have strict regulations right now. Unless you live on the east coast (NY, DC, philly, Boston), your flight to europe may be longer than you want. For US destinations, I recommend

    Napa Valley
    Gatlinburg, TN
    Savannah, GA,
    Wilmington, NC

Why are you in a rush to book your honeymoon?

It’s not like you can’t go a few months later, and I would just not make any big plans to travel without knowing what the future holds. If you do book anytime, make sure you have a refundable deposit and you have this in a contract IN WRITING. I cannot stress this enough. Will the let you cancel up to anytime before departing?
Also I have not been there, but would probably not be a terrible flight or drive (although I wouldn’t even think of getting near an airport right now or in the next six months) I have heard that the Cape Coral/Gulf side of Florida or the keys are beautiful. I don’t think it would be unreasonable to travel to.
Or a great place to go and my husbands family and I go to the OBX in North Carolina! Surely that won’t be more than 5-6 hour drive depending on where you are located in NC? They have secluded beaches and ocean front houses for like super reasonable prices if you stay in the Cape Hatteras National Seashore and don’t go to Corolla or Nags Head in the summer (high season) but the weather is still very nice in September and October

The Florida keys! Check out “The Bungalows” in Key Largo. It’s a bit on the pricey side, but they cater to honeymooners. It’s great during covid. You don’t have to leave the states, but feels like you’re on a tropical island. Amazing drives over all the bridges, lots of restaurants on the beach, some of the best snorkeling and you can even rent your own boats to drive around in the crystal clear water all day! We go all the time and it still amazes us that this is still considered the U.S.
