I'm in a similar situation (not a student though) just on a tight budget and want an all inclusive Caribbean vacation. Sandals and secrets isn't that cheap even with their sales.

Consider looking at Groupon deals. There's a few hidden gems on there.

We always head to Cancun/Cozumel for a cheap Caribbean-ish vacation. It's tropical, super cheap and lots of beach front hotels. You will not be able to get a suite for cheap but you can walk to the resort beach for beach front time. We were just at Dreams Cancun in April and had a great time. Here are a few pictures from our trip, we only went for 2 nights as it was a quick get away. Flights to Mexico will also be cheaper than to the islands, we are fortunate to both work for the airlines so we only pay taxes back into the US for our tickets, but I know Southwest and maybe even Spirit fly into Cancun.
