Honeymoon: Sanibel Island, Fl

Future Mrs.Jones, on March 12, 2017 at 12:36 AM Posted in Honeymoon 0 10

We have been trying to decide where to go for the honeymoon lately. I am set on going to Sanibel Island in Florida, the FH says he will go anywhere and doesn't care. We have been to Sanibel once for his brother's wedding last year and it was beautiful. We were only there for three days and didn't get any chance to do any touring, mainly just stayed by the resort area. Has anyone been there and if so what do you suggest doing/visiting? Also we would be there mid November, anyone know the typical weather that time of year?

Sanibel Island is easily one of the most gorgeous places I have ever been in my life. I only spent a short while there on the beach, but I had a great lunch at the Mucky Duck!

It's a beautiful place and weather shouldn't be bad. I was there in October one year for a conference. We went for morning swims in the beach every day, then had meetings until about noon, then went back to the beach. It's a small island, but easy access to Fort Myers, where there's a lot more stuff.

We went in June and it was blistering hot the whole time, but I am sure it won't be so bad in November. Maybe a nice sunny 75° or so. Attaching a picture of the wedding we attended at the island.

I haven't been in a few years, but we used to go all the time when I was a kid and it was always gorgeous! Get up early enough you can sometimes watch the dolphins off the shore. We used to rent jet skis, too.

I will caution that November is the tail end of hurricane season as far as your weather question.

I used to live in Fort Myers! I highly recommend venturing over to Captiva Island while you are there. Go to the Bubble Room for at least one meal! There are lots of different beaches, not very many different things to do. Personally I would just relax on the beach and go for walks and maybe a bike ride around. There are lots of little shops and restaurants to explore too! Have fun!

FH and I were just there in August. It was during the rainy season and we got a bit unlucky with weather, but it was still gorgeous! Highly recommended going to the lighthouse cafe for brunch or lunch in the middle of a beach day. Casual restaurant but it's amazing, probably the best french toast we've ever had. It was featured on some cooking show, can't remember which one.

We are getting married on Sanibel!

Sanibel and Captiva are very laid back. Rent bikes, tour the island. Swim, shell and relax. If you want a little more activity then head over to Ft. Myers Beach. Sanibel is a great honeymoon spot for quiet and relaxing though. And definitely checkout the Mucky Duck like the PP mentioned.

My family went there two years ago and it's beautiful! We all decided to rent bikes one day and ride them on the trail- most beaches are too and have too much traffic to do something like that. It's a beautiful trail and we had so much fun!

If it wasn't for the sand fleas, I would go back in a heartbeat. They eat me up.
