Honeymoon road trip

Ashley, on May 21, 2019 at 8:32 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 9
Hi everyone!! Our wedding is not until July 11th, 2020 but we are looking at places for our honeymoon so we have time to save up some money. We live in upstate New York and our plan is to take a road trip out west. We are thinking about flying into Denver and making our way to Vegas and the Grand Canyon and then flying home. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas or any experience with doing a road trip out west? Thanks in advance! Smiley smile

Denver to Vegas will take you through some beautiful scenery. Depending on when you’re planning to come, you might be in time for the peach festival or at least fresh Palisade peaches in Palisade CO which are AMAZING. There are also vineyards and the CO National Monument in western CO.

I’d definitely pick a mountain town along the way and spend a night, or at least detour for the day because there’s so much to do- hiking, zip lines, old west photos, amusement parks, hot springs.... our favorite is Breckenridge, though that’s not off I-70 directly. Glenwood Springs is nice too. Can’t give any advice on the second half of your trip, but I’m sure it’ll be fun!

    Hi Ashley Smiley smile

This sounds like a great trip, nothing wrong with figuring out what you would like to do for the honeymoon early Smiley smile

I’m also currently looking up and researching road trips along the West Coast also for next year with some friends. I’ve found some fantastic personal blogs filled with useful information in planning routes, things to see, etc. The blog I’ve found, the people writing them have taken the trip, so their insights are so helpful! You should browse and see what you can find online!

Have you or your FS ever visited parts of the west before?

We are road tripping in Utah for our honeymoon in October!

We are flying into Salt Lake City in Utah, and then we are stopping at all five National Parks: Arches, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef, Bryce Canyon, and Zion. We are going to stay 2 or 3 nights in each location, and end in Las Vegas!

I second Utah, that’s where we are getting married and are doing a national park bachventure camping trip pre wedding - Bryce Canyon, Moab, the Arches, Bear Lake.

I also think if you have time to stop in Sedona, AZ because it’s gorgeous and romantic and if you’re already going to the Grand Canyon rounding out your trip out at Havasu Falls is quite lovely.

Oh Ashley! We are date twins. Honestly, we haven’t even started thinking about the honeymoon yet. I’m not positive if we are taking one immediately after the wedding or not. It sounds like a great idea to travel across the country. You will be able to make such amazing memories.

My FH and I drove from LA to New Jersey a couple years ago, and Vegas through Denver was BY FAR the best leg of the drive, so you've definitely picked a great part of the country! Definitely plan to leave plenty of time in Utah, I was blown away by how gorgeous that state is. The drive on I-70 was the most beautiful drive I have ever been on. Check out Arches National Park in Moab, Utah, it's such a cool place! And the drive through the Rockies in Colorado was of course incredible too. Zion National Park in southern Utah right by the Grand Canyon is definitely a place you should plan at least a day for while you're there Smiley smile

My grandparents have been trying to drive the whole of Route 66! That could be lots of fun!
