Honeymoon recommendations in the Usa!!!

Hailey, on January 18, 2021 at 7:50 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 19

My future husband and I are bigger taller people than most and I cant convince him to get on a plane for more than a few hours. He is all up for a long road trip to anywhere though! We are getting married Oct 2022 so the cold will be a factor as well. He hasn't really been outside of North Carolina so any state is far game to us! Just trying to get a head start on planning!!

We went to California for our honeymoon. I had always wanted to go to California. We spent half the time in LA and the other half in San Diego. It was so much fun. We went to the beach, Disney, Hollywood, and the Zoo.

It was a blast. We also went to a baseball game. The LA team was facing the team MD team which is where we live and are fans of. It just worked out perfectly.

Oh geeze, there are so many places. You could take a 2 week road trip and explore the whole east coast or our west!

If you are looking for somewhere warm I would suggest California, Florida, or Texas. If you want to embrace the beauty of Fall, the Northeast is gorgeous (NY, Delaware, Connecticut, Boston, Maine)

That would be fun! We will eventually buy a camper and travel all around! But maybe we could rent one for a week or two!

I can totally relate to airline travel and how uncomfortable it can be! The upright position, 90 degree angle that needs to be maintained, and lack of space on all sides is so uncomfortable. We plan road trips now and have enjoyed our time so much more.
    Questions for you :
Beach? Prairie? Forest? Mountains? Season?Number of days available?Hobbies/special interests?

If youre looking for a little more low key
We went to an all inclusive resort in Port St Lucie, Florida! It's called Club Med. Super quaint and enjoyable (we went in July so it was less people and not as many activities due to covid) but we had a blast!

Since I’m a nurse I have a little more flexibility (hopefully) with vacation time than my future husband who is a welder. We love the beach and mountains. Doesn’t matter the season but we are getting married in October next year. We camp a few times a year either in a camper or in the back of his truck in the camper top. Hobbies include Netflix and sleeping haha but we also like a small adventure and doing new things together when we can.

Oooo kind of like an all inclusive resort type? That would be nice. Wouldn’t have to worry about anything else except you and your spouse.

We enjoy hitting the National Parks. Sounds like you enjoy camping. If you make your way west Yosemite is a must! We spent two weeks in Utah this summer and absolutely loved it, so much to see! If you do National Parks make sure to purchase the National Park pass when you enter your first park. Definitely worth the price, usually only takes 2 parks to pay for itself.

    We did Disney/Universal!

That said, it's really a matter of what you want to do - you can come north and do city tours/beaches/historic sites/mountains...

There's a lot. Think about what you two enjoy doing, and that will guide your choice.

All you can eat and drink. And they have an adult only pool so you can still get some peace away from any kids 😂 that may have been our favorite part lol we stayed mon-fri and it flew by!

The first thought that came to mind was a “fall foliage and lighthouse tour” along the east coast.
You can head north as far as you like! National Geographic has their own travel guides /tours mapped out.

The Florida keys are great! Not sure where you’re driving/ flying from but we love the keys. Very laid back and some of the best snorkeling I’ve ever done. You can also rent boats to cruise the waters yourself. Lots of restaurants on the beach and the drive over the bridges in between all the different keys is an experience! The Bungalows in key largo are on the pricey side but give you the feel of feeling like you’re in a tropical island. They cater to honeymoons.

We're visiting Key West! We're flying, but I've heard the drive is beautiful!

As a Florida lady who absolutely loves her state, I have to say, you have a lot of options here depending on what you're looking for!

St. Augustine - beautiful, historic, great food. There is a beach, but be advised that the East Coast beaches of Florida aren't as pretty as the West Coast beaches. St. Augustine also has a lot of super cool AirBnBs, like tiny houses. I highly recommend taking a food tour, and looking up the St. Augustine Love Trees (this is my personal favorite free romantic activity - just Google them and read about them!)

Key West - beaches, obviously, and a colorful bar scene. Laid back. As far as roadtrips, I think this has one of the coolest drives. You'll have to use the 7 Mile Bridge, which is literally just over the ocean. As silly as it might sound to be excited for a bridge, it's really cool. Key West also has great sunsets and some nice resorts. Ocean Key is a fave - located at 0 Duval Street, unmatched views. Also check out Rooftop Cafe, and the Butterfly Conservatory, which is really beautiful.

Sarasota/Siesta Key - beautiful beaches (I recommend Crescent Beach) and a more laidback style. As I mentioned before, West Coast beaches are much prettier; this is where you find those crystal turquoise waters. Sarasota is also home to The Ringling (which hosts an art museum, circus museum, and gardens) and some very cool downtown districts.

The only thing missing from all of these that you mentioned earlier is Disney, which unfortunately is not close to any of these destinations - St. Augustine is about 2.5 hours, Sarasota is about 2, and Key West, as you might have guessed, is quite far, a whopping 6.5 hours.
