Honeymoon question

Laura, on July 4, 2019 at 4:15 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 11
I heard I can take my marriage license along with my maiden name passport. Would the marriage license have to be certified or just a copy? I'm going on a cruise to Alaska and Canada. I don't have time to get a new passport or an enhanced license before the honeymoon. (july 13-21)

I was married June 22 and I only just got my name legally changed yesterday due to working full time.

Is the cruise booked in your maiden name? I would hold off on changing anything else if I were you.

I'd contact the cruise line directly, I was told my Passport has to match my Boarding Pass and Driver's License

I would check with the company.. some companies state that you can bring a marriage certificate while others state everything must match. You may want to ask them as well if it is possible to change your surname on the reservation in case you are not able to use the passport and marriage certificate

Oh I would call them ASAP because you might be screwed. Most places require your reservation and ID to match.

Unfortunately, this is a great example of why the best course of action is to book your honeymoon with your maiden name. For our flight to Jamaica, my passports & ticket must match, regardless of reason, or I “forfeit” the flight. Best of luck to you in figuring this out.

Yes, call. But it might not be this bad. She might only have to pay a change fee or transfer fee to update the name on the reservation to her maiden name. Believe that’s how airlines handle it, you just pay to change the name to match your ID docs.

Yeah it just depends. I had a friend who accidentally did this and they had to cancel the ticket and rebook it in her maiden name.

I would contact the cruise line (and airline if you are flying to the originating port) and change everything back to your maiden name. There may be a fee but it's probably your best option now. I wouldn't change your name on anything else until you return and use your current passport to travel. It's obviously too late now but it is often advised to wait until after the honeymoon to begin any name changing.
