Honeymoon near Texas panhandle

Geneva, on December 7, 2019 at 11:08 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 6
Can someone help with honeymoon ideas? He’s military and we’re both young so really tight budget! We want to do something preferable in Texas around the panhandle so we don’t have to drive too far but willing to do stuff in surrounding areas like New Mexico and Oklahoma. I’ve heard of people doing romantic getaways around Amarillo and canyon but any advice please help!

Since I'm sitting here in Dallas, I figured I'd throw in a few things that i know around here, as well as some things i found from a brief search about Oklahoma and New Mexico. If you really want something nice and relatively cheap though, my Dallas suggestions will probably be more your style

Reunion tower is a must see. Wolfgang Puck has a restaurant at the top of the tower as well, so you can eat steak and take in the city as the tower goes around. Plus they have a "love is in the air" package I saw when I googled their site. The whole place is gorgeous even if you just go up there to look around. Definitely worth a trip.
Of course, we have a Six flags here as well. Depending on the time of year, Cowboys, Rangers are playing. Dallas is fairly tourist friendly, especially with a large selection of restaurants and bars. Plus plenty of museums and zoos.
There's also this in Amarillo: https://www.starlightcanyon.com which sounds amazing.
Did some more looking, and I think Oklahoma might be your next best bet. New Mexico has some things, but I didn't find a lot: https://www.thecrazytourist.com/15-best-romantic-weekend-getaways-new-mexico/
And finally, Oklahoma. I've never been myself, but it sounds pretty:https://www.thecrazytourist.com/15-best-romantic-weekend-getaways-oklahoma/

If you’re outdoorsy here are some suggestions for that area.

Places to check out: Palo Duro Canyon State ParkCanyon, TX Offers hiking, mountain biking, guided trail rides, jeep tours, zip lining, dog friendly.
There are rustic cabins in the park you can stay at, but tiny cabins and other Airbnb rentals are very popular in Canyon near the state park. Doves Rest cabins are some of the more luxurious stays right outside the park. I know there is an Airbnb which is actually a train car! Kind of neat.

Amarillo is...there lol there are some touristy spots like Cadillac Ranch, The Big Texan, AQHA hall of fame and museum but maybe not ideal for a romantic honeymoon.
New Mexico has a lot of hidden gems. Santa Fe is popular, Taos, Carlsbad Caverns, Sugarite Canyon is a favorite of mine.

How long would you like to be on honeymoon for? Would you guys prefer to stay in a luxurious hotel or would you prefer a unique experience like checking out some interesting Airbnbs?

Probably Airbnb’s unless the hotel is semi affordable it would be a shorter honeymoon but basically we just want to relax and enjoy ourselves either with massages in a hotel or in an Airbnb close to a cool experience !
