Honeymoon in the us

Marissa, on August 30, 2019 at 12:33 PM Posted in Honeymoon 1 14

Where are some of your honeymoon spots in the US? I really want to go somewhere with a beach... already been to FL and it was nice, but it was a family vacation and I want somewhere we haven't been. I was thinking NC/SC on the coast, or maybe California. Thoughts? Where are you going?

SC local here! Myrtle Beach SC is a huuuggge tourist spot in SC but I would not personally recommend it. It's not as nice as it looks in pictures. Sunset Beach is close to the NC border and is very nice, Edisto (closer to Georgia) is also pretty nice! And of course Charleston is fun, lots to do and see, but the beaches there are VERY crowded lol. Hope this helps! Smiley smile

Florida has lots of nice beaches so depending on where you went there are lots of others. I love the Clearwater Beach/ St Pete area on the gulf side. Depends on what you like....lots to do or super quiet and laid back like maybe Outer Banks, NC.

Where did you go in Florida? Like PP mentioned, Myrtle Beach is super touristy and not what I would consider honeymoon friendly. Destin, FL is beautiful and has different areas with as much or as little to do as you want. There are tons of shops, restaurants, and activities in the "downtown" area of Destin, but if you want somewhere more relaxed, Santa Rosa Beach is nearby and a little quieter.

Siesta Key is an island off Sarasota, FL that has the highest ranked beach in the US and often on the top of global lists as well! I've heard Destin and Marco Island are great FL destinations as well.

We also looked at Long Island, Montauk area, the outer banks in NC, and Hilton Head Island, SC.

We have also done FL many times and decided on California. We are doing a day of tourist stuff in LA, a 4 day cruise to Mexico, and 4 days in Disneyland as we are big Disney people

We stayed at a friends in Clearwater before and made the 2ish hour trip to Casey Key/Nokomis beach, FL. We really liked it there. Clearwater wasn't that appealing to us. Also, St. Augustine, FL is super beautiful. My husband and I are taking our "honeymoon" in Savannah and Tybee Island, GA in October.

If you're open to anywhere in the US I recommend Hawaii! I grew up in California, and I love it, but Maui was just on a completely different level. We just spent 2 weeks there and it was amazing. We also wanted a beach location within the US that neither of us had been to. Also figured it's one that we aren't likely to bring kids too (kinda expensive).

I live in Southern California and unfortunately our beaches are gross. Stay on the East Coast, I personally think it will be way better! Good luck

My FSIL went to California for hers last January. My FH and I are thinking a cruise in February (we have a 1 year old, so we are delaying a real honeymoon) to the Caribbean. If we dont do that, Niagara Falls in the summer. Smiley smile

As someone who grew up east of the Mississippi and lives in California now, stay east if you want a beach but come west if you want mountains or forest.

The Pacific is very cold and pretty choppy, even in SoCal. The Gulf Coast has the best beaches in the continental US—if you don’t want to do Florida again, try Alabama (Gulf Shores area) or Mississippi (Gulfport area).

If you want forest or mountains, it’s way better out west. The Tahoe area of California/Nevada is spectacular, as is pretty much the entirety of the Pacific Northwest.

Going to chime in that if you want a beach, you should try Hilton Head Island, SC.
