Honeymoon in Aruba or Cabo?

Liz, on March 14, 2017 at 2:59 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 17

My fiance and I are looking at all inclusive resorts in Aruba and Cabo at the end of September. Does anyone have any input on their personal experiences at either location? It's really a toss up because I think both places are absolutely beautiful! Thanks y'all!

    Absolutely Aruba.

Cabo, on the Pacific side of Mexico, doesn't have the gorgeous aqua water and white sand beaches. Last time I was there, you couldn't even go in the water. If you want Mexico, go to Cancun, Playa or Tulum on the Caribbean side.

If you want to actually get in the water, Aruba. Last time we were in Cabo the water was too dangerous for swimming. It's definitely beautiful though.

I would vote for Cabo. We went last summer. It's where FH proposed and where we are getting married later this year. It's beautiful and so relaxing. We stayed at Hacienda Encatada last year and it was amazing. It was all inclusive. Great views, amazing food, amazing staff, defiantly worth the money. And they have a free shuttle to their sister hotel in downtown Cano if you want to spend some time shopping at the public beach. We are staying at Sandos Finisterra and Secrets when we are there for the wedding. I haven't been to either before so I dnt give a personal recommendation, but my boss was just a Secrets and said it was great.

Like others have said, the beachesat the resorts are not swimable. There is a public beach where swimming is safe near the marina area. But, if you are looking to spend a lot of time in the ocean, it's probably not the best choice. From what I saw, there also several vendors walking around on the public beach so if you don't like to be bothered by people trying to sell you stuff it might not be fun. I don't like swimming in salt water, so I'm ok with sitting on the chairs in the sand and then using the resort pool to cool off. Every place we looked into looked like they had beautiful views from the pool.

We are doing Cabo just because it's closer to where we live on the West Coast. Even though you can't swim in the ocean, many resorts have beautiful pools with great ocean views. When I first visited last year, I was really impressed by the lack of humidity, which made the heat a lot more bearable.

September is hurricane season, so keep that in mind when choosing a destination and booking your trip.

My own opinion... Traveling to Mexico is significantly cheaper than Aruba = probably be able to go another time in your life. If you're able to splurge the extra bit, I feel, Aruba is worth it!

I'm hope this doesn't make me sound stupid...but why aren't the waters swimmable in Cabo?

@ Erika The current and waves are too strong and it's just not safe in most places.

Cabo! We've stayed at Breathless resort there and it was awesome. If you go to Cabo I would definitely stay at a resort close to the marina, there's so much to do there within walking distance. People were definitely in the water when we went, so at least at the resort where we were at not being able to get in the water wasn't an issue. I think the Hacienda Encantada was next door and it looks beautiful, Breathless might be a little too party like for a honeymoon.

Also check for hurricane season. Sept tends to be during peak hurricane season. Not sure on hurricanes in Aruba though.

    Aruba.

Also aruba is too far south and outside the hurricane belt. Hardly ever rains so it's a dry island but still beautiful. You're pretty much garunteed sunny weather. We went 3 years ago for 10 days at the end of September and it never rained. Just enough clouds to give you shade when the sun was burning and just enough of a trade wind to keep the heat manageable.

Let me know if you have any questions. We stayed at Divi all inclusive. I highly suggest it!

I've been to both Cabo and Aruba. We are leaning towards Aruba for the honeymoon because there's a lot to do on the island and also because I got to Cabo frequently bc my parents have a time share there. Cabo has a ton to do at the marina and the downtown area has become way more built up over the past few years. If you want to lay by the pool and drink margaritas and maybe take a boat ride and party downtown then Cabo wins. If you want to go in the ocean and go to pretty beaches and do water sports than Aruba wins. Also one thing to keep in mind is Aruba is very windy

    Aruba!!

it is out of the hurricane zone so you don't have to worry about it! Would definitely recommend going off roading there and visiting the natural springs!

I just came back from Cabo- it's a party atmosphere for spring breakers... Going in Sept will avoid the Springbreakers but my coworkers who went in Sept said it was dead... Medano beach is nice but not the clearest water
