Honeymoon ideas

Melanie, on February 3, 2021 at 1:16 PM Posted in Honeymoon 1 16
Hey guys! Anyone have any US honeymoon ideas? I am having a heck of time picking a destination and my fiancé thinks they all sound good lol. So far we have considered New York City, Vegas, New Orleans, Hawaii and Colorado. We are so torn between rather we want beaches, mountains or cities. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated! TIA!

    It's so hard!! LOL

We are considering a US destination for our honeymoon, too. Right now we are deciding between Wine Country in California and Aspen Colorado. We also considered Hawaii but it's so expensive and my fiancé hates flying so the closer the better!

Exactly! We live on the east coast so Colorado and Hawaii are both pricey for us to fly to but then again between lodging and flights the destinations tend to come out about even. We really wanted to try for Cancun or Jamaica but with Covid aren’t confident that flights wouldn’t get cancelled and so on.

All amazing options! I think the best way to pick, if you’re really stuck deciding, is to plan out a mock trip for each location—specific activities, hotels, etc. and then see what sounds best to you!

I am from New York and love the city but I personally wouldn’t do my honeymoon there. It’s not a relaxing place and even the high end hotels (which are super pricey) tend to have smaller rooms. I think it’s an amazing place everyone should visit, I personally would save it for a non-honeymoon trip.
I love Vegas. It’s where we got engaged so I obviously think it can be super romantic! You have accommodations, food and activities at every price point. You can hike or lounge by gorgeous pools. Get a couples massage and then see a great show. And obviously—gamble and drink if you want! Highly highly recommended!
Our honeymoon was in Hawaii and I’d recommend Oahu to anyone looking for a balance of fun activities and relaxation!

We actually went to NYC in December in 2019 and I agree. Those rooms are so small lol and it can be over whelming for sure. My BFF got married in Vegas and I loved it there and my fiancé has never been there so that is towards the top of the list. I hadn’t thought of planning mock trips for all the possible places so thanks for that great idea!

    Love your name! Smiley smile

We're likely doing a resort in Florida. I need to look further into it soon but hoping to find something close to all inclusive so we don't have to go anywhere but the resort.

All of your options sound great (not helpful, I know)! Just a matter of figuring out what vibe you want and how much you want to spend. Hawaii would be awesome, but likely the most expensive. I've never been to Colorado but I've heard it's really relaxing and serene and good for lots of alone time with your new hubby. Flights to Denver are surprisingly pretty cheap from the east coast. Like you mentioned, NYC rooms are normally small so that wouldn't be my first choice. There's so much to see in New Orleans and the food options there are the best. I felt like I was moving nonstop in New Orleans though, so I'd only recommend it if you're looking for more adventure than relaxation. Vegas is also awesome, but the strip and hotels are always so highly populated. I wouldn't visit until the covid situation gets a bit better, but that's completely up to you.

I’d probably go to Hawaii or Colorado on your list. The other places are amazing but not for a honeymoon. We are headed to Palm Springs. You get nice weather and ambiance and the mountains.
Aside from a honeymoon, I’d go to NYC and NOLA when things are open again and restrictions have been lifted. If you plan it right you can get a good weekend deal.

If you can find a resort in Florida that is close to all inclusive I will be in awe lol. I really am leaning towards New Orleans so will look into that more.

    We did Disney/Universal!

...But DH is born and raised Manhattanite, and we live *just* outside, so NYC is... well, usually it's our life!

I think what it comes down to is this - do you want to *do* things on your honeymoon, or do you want to *not do* stuff? (Obviously, we are a "do stuff" kind of couple.)

Once you figure that out, you can narrow your choices to fit.

My favorite was Fort Collins. It's much smaller than Denver and many hiking options around there.

Coloradan here, and have spent time in Hawaii and Vegas. How much time do you have? Are you more "go-go-go" or "take it slow and relax"? What sort of activities do you envision on your HM? How important is food (and what kind of food)? Do you want to rent a car and drive, or use Uber?

We got engaged on vacation in South Lake Tahoe, California and it was absolutely beautiful. There are so many different things to do, the lake and the trails are a must. We are definitely going back. There is a North part to Lake Tahoe that has some more things to offer too.
