Honeymoon help!

Allie, on February 21, 2020 at 3:07 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 3
Alright so we finally have a honeymoon destination somewhat narrowed down haha. We are from NY and thinking of going to either Wyoming, Colorado, or Montana. We are both big outdoors people and looking for a national park that isn’t too touristy but has enough to do. Has anyone honeymooned in the following states? Also, does anyone know what the weather will be like at the beginning of September? Thanks!

I’ve never been to either of those states, Allie. They all look gorgeous and perfect options for an outdoor couple!

Have you checked out the Lonely Planet for more info on each of them? It’s my favorite travel website Smiley smile

Smiley smile I live in CO, a few things to keep in mind:

    1. It *could* be super cold/snowy in the mountains here, or perfect! So being OK with either would be a good idea.

    2. Unless you are used to being at altitude, I usually advise against heading straight into the mountains for a hike, etc. the first day (or two, depending on your fitness level). Most people are a lot more lethargic than they think they will be when they get here (1 flight stairs winded my relatively in shape FH for months!) Also drink a lot of water!

On to the spots here worth checking for a HM:

Estes Park is right next to the RMNP entrance and is a fantastic small town, which also has the Stanley Hotel (if you're in to that). It's also not terribly from from some springs, like Mount Princeton. There are multiple mountain roads that are absolutely amazing you can take through RMNP toward small towns. Estes is also not terribly far from Boulder and Denver.

In Southern Colorado, I can't suggest Pagosa Springs or Durango enough. You are close to the San Juan Mountains which are not as crowded as RMNP, and there are plenty of natural and manicured hot springs.
