Honeymoon- Greece

Not in the same boat, but honestly, unless you are staying out of public 100% here, you have the same chance of catching it here as you would there. Take precautions but enjoy yourselves!

I completely agree with PP, the risk here isn’t different than in Europe as cases are increasing rapidly. I’d say as long as you’re fine with current regulations like masks, testing, curfews and understanding that things can change then a honeymoon in Greece might be ok.
We’re going to Greece in a little over a month and we’re really excited, but we got vaccinated so we’re not too worried and will still be careful.

Hello ! So first of all you know you need to have a Pass ? So you have to be vaccinated or ding the tests Evry 2 days? And then if you are carefull enough, the risk is like everywhere... in France we came back to schools in may 2020, I'm seeing 50 colleagues every day, 100 students... But I never got sick. So just be carefull... and follow the news about all the fires in Grece at the moment !

When are you planning to go? If it's now, make sure that you're staying somewhere far away from the fires... Also, inform yourself about the local Covid restrictions - especially what paperwork you need to enter the EU at the moment and make sure your vaccine is recognised by the EU. The foreign office has a website (or at least I believe it was the FO, you may also try the US embassy in Greece). You're risking the US being put on a travel alert list (it will probably be just a few regions with lots of cases, but I don't know where you're from), and having to quarantine on arrival. I'd phone or write the hotel, they are usually much better informed than American travel agents. If you'll be going in the fall or winter, the no of cases in Greece will probably rise again, so maybe you won't be able to experience everything you wanted due to restrictions (but then again, maybe they won't be as drastic this year - who knows really). It's really your decision, just know the risks and make an informed decision.

Just got back from Greece 2 weeks ago (we were also there last September). In general they are very lax on regulations in any unofficial areas. Most people and places are going about business as usual. It is also a country that primarily lives outdoors, so many activities are accessible. If you are going in the Fall, the fires will most likely be under control and are also regional. Air service has not been stopped.
Currently, you must be fully vaccinated or show a negative test under 48hrs. You must also fill in a PLF form for your household https://travel.gov.gr/#/
I agree that the risk isn't necessarily higher as long as you are following guidelines. Book tickets and hotels with flexible cancellation policies to lessen the stress.
