Honeymoon Destinations in the US

Amanda, on February 21, 2017 at 6:24 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 12

Hello everyone,

I am looking for some ideas of where to affordably honeymoon in the the States.

This June my fiance is coming over on a K1 visa, so we will not be able to leave the country for our honeymoon as he will not have a green card yet. We want a location we can either tuck in and enjoy each other without feeling like we aren't wasting money if we don't get out and see the sights. But at the same time, we would like to have the option of exploring a great place if we decide to leave our room.

We will live in Georgia, near Atlanta and most of the places that come to mind are Gatlinburg, Asheville, Charleston, Savannah, etc.I would rather save these great places for when we need a weekend getaway.

What are your suggestions?

My sister in law came with a K1 visa too. My bro & sis in law decided on Disney land. There is a similar thread like this titled something along the lines of "Honeymoon" whereby OP wants to travel w/o passport. Many suggested Guam, Puerto Rico & US Virgin Islands. If you want to save look for an all inclusive resort (check Expedia), complimentary breakfast, pack snacks, use Amex points/rewards, etc.

Thank y'all. :-) I did see OP's post, however we will not be able to go to a US territory, because he only has 1 entry allowed.

I'm specifically looking for ideas of places that we can either stay in without missing out on what's around us. For instance I love the idea of a cozy cabin in the woods, but he doesn't like that idea and feels it is too remote. Or, ideas for a place where there are things to do if we decide to go out for a change of scenery for a while.

Yellowstone or Yosemite...plenty to do if you enjoy the outdoors but you can enjoy some quiet married time, too...

Maine is beautiful and quaint. Tons of adventuring to do on the west coast--Oregon, Washington State. Napa, California for relaxing and wine tasting!

Texas Hill Country. There are tons of small towns around San Antonio and Austin that have a secluded feel to them with beautiful views, but you can make a day trip in to either city very easily. You can pop into the small towns for shopping, historical stops, and they have plenty of dining options (Fredericksburg, Wimberly, Boerne, Bandera, etc)

We're staying at a bed and breakfast for a mini moon its the nicest B&B I found, in VA anyway, its called Walden Hall, looks so romantic. Were going to try and go to Ireland later in the year or for our one year anniversary. I would definitely recommend Charleston if you like the southern charm, Myrtle Beach or Virginia Beach if you want to be by the ocean. Asheville, North Carolina is nice but is much more rustic, we stayed at morrow mountain state park, lots of hiking, not much to the towns but some great wineries if you like muscadine wine, it grew on me. Depends on what you and FH like to do and most importantly what you see yourself doing on your honeymoon, if you want to see the sites, explore, be outdoors, lay at the pool or beach, or familiarize yourselves with all the surfaces of your room.

We are planning to go out to California, play Pebble Beach, and take a road trip down to Los Angeles. Maybe a week in Big Sur would be nice for you!

I recommend Mackinac Island Michigan. It is one of my all-time places, and very romantic. It is touristy enough that you wont feel like there is nothing to do, but romantic enough to just be alone. There are TONS of hotels and B&Bs, and all of them are Victorian, as is the entire island. There are no cars allowed, only horse and buggy and bicycles, which is very fun. Good Luck!! Here is the link to the tourism board:

I live in Buford, Georgia and my FH and I are going down to Florida first stop is Orlando to do 2 days at the parks and then 5 days to pass-a-grill beach it is a small beach town on the Gulf relaxing and beautiful, with plenty of nearby towns to visit like clearwater beach which has great nightlife for free. Street entertainers, a movie on the lawn on Saturdays, sunset cruises etc... we love it there I say as long as you are with the person you love it shouldn't matter where you go as long as you are together.
