Honeymoon Delay

Frederic, on November 11, 2023 at 10:09 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 4
FW and I are getting married in October 15th, 24..... due to $$$ constraints, it looks like we won't do our Honeymoon until 2026......why not 2025 you say???? Well, my sister is redoing her vows that year and we want to support her..... is that too long to recognize our Honeymoon??

I don't know what you think is required to "support" her but our sister's vow renewal is a one day affair. She doesn't own all of that week or month let alone 2025, not to mention she's already married. Personally, two years later would feel more like a vacation to me at that point, which is, of course, fine, too. Any chance you can do a mini-moon at some point, for example a weekend trip or even a staycation?

I think you should go on your honeymoon sooner than later so you can feel all the newlywed feelings and still tell everyone you see, you're newly married. I don't believe in the idea of a mini-moon myself because what are you waiting for? A legit honeymoon doesn't have to be a European summer, it can be camping or a staycation-- it's all in the romantic mindset. Also, unless your sister is coming with you, her vow renewal is her own single day. Just try not to tell honeymoon stories with others on that one day. Best wishes.

Honeymoon by definition is a vacation or trip taken by a newly married couple. A trip after being marriage for 2 years is really just a vacation. Would you consider scaling back your wedding so you could afford a honeymoon? You could also consider giving up a few things (eating out, expensive gifts, etc.) so you could save more money faster. Ultimately, it is a decision you should make as a couple, and any trip together is nice, despite what you label it.
