Honeymoon coronavirus style

Bee, on April 28, 2020 at 7:42 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 10
What are your guys plans for your honeymoon? We were just about to book ours when coronavirus started taking off so we haven’t booked and honestly we don’t plan on booking anything if coronavirus isn’t under control by August.

My question is what are you guys doing if Coronavirus is under control in the United States but let’s say it’s not in other countries or you just simply don’t want to risk flying yet? Any Recommendations for United States trip is welcome.
We could obviously wait a year for our honeymoon but we already have one kid and hope to try for another one after our wedding so for ourselves it may not be easy to take that honeymoon a year later, if we have an infant and or are pregnant.

What would you like to do during your honeymoon? Visit a city, stay by the beach? And when would you want to go?

There's so many things, so, as PP stated, we need a bit more information to help you.

Where are you? What's the rough budget? What do you like to do?

You could do anything from National Parks to Disney to touring a US city you've never been to... it's really a matter of what would make you happy on a budget you can afford!

Maybe a beach, we live in rural Kansas so not much to do in Kansas. We like adventures. We would probably
Avoid Disney if coronavirus is still an issue (heard they might not even open this year)

Myrtle beach has been on my bucket list but not against other ideas. Colorado would be out, we’ve been there a lot.
Budget is unlimited with in reason.
We would plan on an out of country honeymoon if covid wasn’t happening

Beach probably. Not against mountains just not Colorado, we visit there a lot. Time of year would probably be August of this year.

If we wait until next year it’ll be out of the country (but we have a spot picked out) assuming covid is ok by then

I have been to Myrtle Beach and it is really cute! If you've been wanting to go there I recommend it.

Otherwise, Florida has great beaches obviously, although it can be quite hot in August and humid.

St Pete Beach & Clearwater have great beaches. St Pete also has a very cute downtown area to walk around. You're also close to Tampa (which you can fly into) which has a lot of cute areas downtown (Hyde Park, SoHo areas near the University of Tampa are wonderful)

Otherwise the Keys in southern florida are amazing. They have lots of resorts and all the keys are super cute, and it's fun to drive from key to key until Key West.

If you want an area a little cooler temperature wise, you could do Lake Tahoe. I live in Reno 30min away and Tahoe is really great. The beach is absolutely beautiful and in August it will be warm but the Lake stays cool all year long so if you like really warm water I wouldn't recommend it. Otherwise it's really a beautiful area with lots of cute towns and delicious restaurants.

My caution against FL/SC in August is hurricane season. That's where CA may be a better bet!

Whatever you do, I'd make sure to have a Plan B, be flexible, and try not to make decisions until you have to - with everything that's going on, we don't know what August will look like.

    Good luck!

Oh good advice I never thought about hurricane season. Oh yes, what ever we do it’ll be last minute. I hope you are staying safe and healthy!

We are booked for Hawaii from August 14-29, 2020 and I am almost certain we will need to cancel the trip. We are coming from the Toronto area.

We were planning to spend about 3-4 weeks in New Zealand later this year (leaving around Thanksgiving and coming back mid-November). Given everything going on, we're probably going to postpone by a year and do something a bit smaller.

I'm biased, as I'm an outdoors person, but I would highly recommend any of the National Parks out west... Depending upon where the federal regulations regarding social distancing are, you should be able to visit just about any of them, and you could stay in style or rough it, depending on what your travel style is. I would particularly recommend Glacier - it's beautiful and a bit more remote than some of the others with mountains, so you don't deal with as many crowds.

I just found out that I have to postpone mine. Waiting on my travel agent to send me new dates.
