Honeymoon choices! Costa Rica, St. Lucia, or Punta Cana?

Emily , on January 22, 2018 at 9:23 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 4
Hi guys! My fiancé and I were considering Costa Rica, st Lucia, or Punta Cana! Does anyone have any opinions or recommendations!? We are torn all sorts of directions Bc we really want someone better than just a playa del Carmen type of destination, any suggestions would be so appreciated!

I just got back from my honeymoon, we went to Sanctuary Cap Cana which is part of Punta Cana. AMAZING resort, highly recommended. We can't wait to go back.

Hi Emily! I've added extra details to your discussion title so that people know what your post is about!

Do you know how long you're planning on going on your honeymoon? What types of activities are you trying to do and what are some of the things that you're looking for?

We split our honeymoon between St. Lucia and Barbados and loved both places! We stayed at the Sugar Beach Resort in St. Lucia for 4 days and it was absolutely gorgeous.

If you want breathtaking views and great private villa / bungalow options - then St. Lucia is perfect! There are lots of outdoor activities, both water sports and hiking, off-roading, zip-lining, and mud-bathing. Smiley smile For me the only downside to where we were staying in St. Lucia (Soufriere) was that you're pretty much confined to the resort property. You can eat and explore elsewhere, but nothing is walk-able so you'll need to hire transportation. Another thing to think through is that St. Lucia doesn't have the best beaches, and they are all public.

We've been to St. Lucia and DR - we LOVED them both, for different reasons.

We loved St. Lucia because it's a small island. It does seem to be the Honeymoon Captial - seemed everyone was on their honeymoon and we were on our first vacation as a couple Smiley smile We loved that we felt super safe exploring the entire island - we left our AI resort a few times to venture into the nearest city on our own and even went to a street party one night with some other resort guests - it was a blast!.

DR - our FAVORITE resort is the DR - Iberostar Grand, we've been twice and got engaged on our last trip there. We almost picked the Iberostar Grand as for our DW, but opted for Mexico as it's slightly cheaper for travel costs. The hosted excursions are great, but neither of us felt super safe walking around the nearby cities on our own. It didn't stop us from exploring, but we were just a bit more aware of our surroundings. I will say the staff at Ibeorstar is the best and the food was great.
