Holiday gifts for your new spouse (or spouse-to-be)!

Paige, on December 19, 2022 at 11:26 AM Posted in Community Conversations 0 8

Hello everyone!

With the holidays upon us, are you planning to give your spouse or spouse-to-be anything related to being newlyweds or to-be-weds? Something they've been eyeing? Something personal? I'd love to hear everyone's plans!

For me, my husband LOVES to say he wants things like socks or other impersonal things. It drives me nuts lol. I found him a nice fleece jacket (he loves those) and a book of recipes designed to be made as a couple. I thought it would be a fun thing to do together since we tend to rotate through the same meals and we like cooking new things together.

Do you knit or crochet? My fiance used to say this so I crocheted him a sweater. He loved it.

I sent my fiance's gifts (LDR) but they have nothing to do with our upcoming wedding or marriage. His big gift is a watch made of wood. He loves nature and especially wood. Sad thing is the other day I asked why he didn't have his watch on and he said, he no longer needed it at work since his assignment changed. The one I sent is definitely not for work so hopefully he will love it and agree to wear it.....sigh....

So far, I got a Christmas ornament for my husband (we collect them from new places we visit together and also to honor special life events). This one is in celebration of our first Christmas as a married couple. I'm also buying him another ornament to celebrate us buying our first house (though that's not going to be a Christmas gift). The marriage ornament looks similar to this, though slightly different (I don't have a photo of it at the moment):

Still trying to think of what else to get for him! He prefers practical things, so whatever else I get him will be along those lines.

While not technically married yet, we're only a month away. So I got my fiancé a pair of new swim trunks (getting married in Puerto Rico) and then tickets for a couples glass blowing class the day before everyone in the family starts arriving. He's a big experience person over "things" so I tried to create an experience that would help make our time there even more about us connecting.

For our 1st married Christmas together, we got ornaments from our ceremony and reception venues. We also got them for our family as affordable gifts, too. 😄 When Omicron changed our flight last minute, we made it our Christmas tree. Holiday gifts for your new spouse (or spouse-to-be)! 2

A band that we both LOVE (and never thought we’d ever get to see live again because the band dismantled years ago) has announced they are reuniting and going on tour in 2023! So we agreed our Christmas presents to eachother would be splurging on the best tickets and our favorite hotel for the weekend (assuming they have a stop in Chicago- if not, a nice hotel wherever we travel to see them). I’m really into experiences rather than physical gifts, and my lovely fiancé has joined me in the love 💕
