HM: Where to Honeymoon for $2500 or less?

The New Mrs. Flannery, on June 30, 2011 at 2:09 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 18

I KNOW this can be done, but I am not having any luck finding a honeymoon (adult only) resort. Help, Where can I find a great deal??? The main locations we have been looking into are: Punta Cana-Dominican, Cancun-Cozumel-Puerto Vallerto Mexico, and possibly Montego Bay, Jamaica. A great beach is VERY important to us, considering fh would spend all day, every day at the beach. Ocean view, jacuzzi, and/or a swim up room would be amazing, but not necessary. Food seems to be hit or miss depending on the person, but preferably a resort with decent food reviews.

I guess it all depends on how long you are looking to go for. We went to Punta Cana a few years ago and spend about $2300 for 7 nights. We just went again for our honeymoon (different resort) but we went for 10 nights so it was more expensive. Have you tried cheapcarribean.com? I seem to find good deals there

We're staying in Myrtle Beach for 5 days for under $2000 including airfare. We're staying at North Beach Plantations

It isn't "Adults Only" but they are on the beach, and have great amenities, such as a swim up bar in their pool area. We are so excited to be staying there Smiley smile

A friend of mine just went to Valentin Imperial Maya and loved it, the hotel works out to be around $2100 for 6 nights though so I think the flights would probably cost more than $400 to get to mexico. But she really loved the place, so maybe you could find it on sale on a travel site? http://www.valentinmaya.com/index.html

Stephanie A.- I have looked at Cheapcarribean.com, but it seems as though expedia continues to beat them.

I am really thinking about doing the Apple Vacations "Square Deal". Does anyone have input on the good, the bad, and the ugly of doing this???

Have you tried joining discount websites that offer travel? I have seen some great deals for trips to some places that make me drool. Some (not all) even include airfare in the cost. Jetsetter.com, Gilt Groupe's travel section, even Living Social. There are so many of them...LuxeTravel, VoyagePrive...I can't even remember how many of these I joined to find good deals for our DW guests. It's harder to look for a specific location, like I did, but if you have an open mind about where you'd enjoy going, you might trip (ahaha) on a really great deal.

Our travel agent, Jim, has always been able to get us a good deal:

Generally, you can save money by going to Cancun because people are afraid of drug violence (which is a little silly, considering the all-inclusive resorts are perfectly safe). We've stayed at Secrets Capri Riviera Maya, and Excellence Playa Mujeres. Both are awesome, though your FH might like the Secrets if it's in your budget: they have a fantastic cantina area near the beach, so you can eat shrimp tacos while looking at the ocean.

PS - both are adult only.

@Jessica, the first time we went we stayed at the Melia (which was awesome!), and for the honeymoon was stayed at the Paradisius. That was amazing as well, but they are owned by the same company haha. I dont think I know anything about Secrets, but I bet you will have fun. Just watch out for the people trying to sell you a timeshare, they are ruthless!!

VEGAS!!!! We're going there for three nights, staying at Luxor. Even with eating out and shopping, it'll be under $1000. Of course, we're driving there so if you have to fly, that'll up the total.

I was married in Punta Cana in November at Melia (definitely under $2500 for me and my husband for full week for an all inclusive resort) but another resort, Excellence was the name I believe, was adults only. Check them out and their other resorts. Have fun!

Have you tried looking around on the apple vacations website?? Under $2500 is actually not that hard to get. I see that you are getting married in August, if you are planning on going right after your wedding august is considered there 'off' month so prices will be cheaper for that reason also. We book 7 day trips to mexico alot for about $1300 a person. Im not sure if this would work for you or not but you can also get really good last minute deals through apple. My mom goes on a long weekend trip (thurs, fri, sat, sun) every year in November for her bday and books like a month or two in advance and it only costs her about $400-$600 a person!! Only thing with booking last minute deals is knowing if you could defiantly get off work. Definatly do an all inclusice and if you dont have time to keep looking around on the apple website then talk to a travel agent. Tell them your budget and when you want to go and they will keep an eye out for you.

I stayed at Excellence Punta Cana, adults only resort. I think we paid around $3k but that included 4 exersions, so with out them it would have been about $2,500 or less. It was fantastic, we would go back in a heart beat. We also went in the middle of October.
