Help

Alyssa, on January 8, 2021 at 8:02 PM Posted in New Mexico Planning 0 10
Sooo I got engaged a few months ago and we both decided on a really small elopement wedding, more intimate. I’m just not sure how to look for vendors for that. HELP!

Have you already picked your venue? A lot of venues offer elopement packages that will accommodate up to a certain number of people for a set price. Some of those will already include like your flowers, photographer, etc.

I don’t have a set venue picked yet, I’m also looking for something not too pricy and allows me to bring own food and drinks.

Do you have a type of venue in mind? I'd start by deciding how far you're wanting your elopement to be (closer to home or destination) and the type of venue that fits your wedding vision and then take a look at local venues.

Generally speaking some parks, churches, community centers, etc will let you bring your own food and basic drinks but there may be restrictions on alcohol if that's something you're wanting to have (not sure what all "drinks" entails) but every venue is different.

In terms of planning, the first thing you want to establish is your guest count and venue. You need your guest count to determine your venue, and your venue to determine the rest. You wouldn't want to fall in love with one specific vendor and then find out the venue you picked after won't work with them for X reason.

I know I want a venue somewhere in New Mexico for sure and I really like scenery.

Gotcha. Honestly, google is your friend. Once you figure out there where, then you can figure out the next steps. What's your venue budget? Bosque State Park which looks to be around $1,000 plus a security deposit if you want an indoor space and Hyde State Park near Santa Fe is about $1,500 but you'd need to inquire with them if that fits in your budget what their rules for vendors are.

There's plenty of places to start. Even here on weddingwire you can search through venues, but I've found my share of surprising venues just doing google searches. Not every venue will be listed on every wedding site if any wedding site at all and sometimes they're the diamond in the rough you were looking for.

I have seen some elopement packages in my area/surrounding area. Basically, it includes everything that you would need for a great price. AND it looks aesthetically amazing! I am kind of wishing I went this route myself...

Really!? Would you mind giving me the names of some of the places? And yeah I’m just wanting something more personal and intimate, I don’t feel the need for a big wedding.

I would start with Instagram! Right now a lot of businesses are advertising whether they do elopements or not on their profiles. If you find a business you like, give them a call. If they can't help you, then they'll usually give you the contact of a business that can!
