Help with grand entrances

Our cocktail hour starts at 3pm. It should take us about 30minutes to get group pictures done, then 30min for me and FH to take pictures by ourselves. Grand entrance is about 4pm


While we are taking pictures the wedding party plan to head over to the reception. Would it be weird for them to arrive & mingle w guests before their grand entrance? Im guessing they would arrive 3:30-ish but at 4pm, make their way to outside of the front door to be ready to do the grand entrance.
My thought was to do a quick song for the bridesmaids as they enter as a group, then the dj introduces each one of them. Then the same for the groomsmen. My daughter ( the flower girl) would also get a special entrance. And then bride & groom grand entrance.
My 2nd question is how do we transition into our first dance after the grand entrances? Would the dj just simply request to clear the dancefloor for the 1st dance?

    It wouldn’t be weird for them to mingle with others while you guys are taking pics. That’s exactly what we did. When we were done with our photos, the photographer informed our DOC (owner of the venue) & they gathered up the wedding party. After the wedding party gets introduced, they sit down & then my husband & I made our grand entrance. We went right into our first dance.

    It is not weird for them to mingle with guests, we were at put cocktail hour the whole time (we got all pictures done during first look).


    As for an entrance song for your bridal party the is up to you. We didn't have a bridal party so it was just us.
    And for your first dance talk with your DJ they know best. We served dinner, did speaches and cake cutting before our first dance. It all worked out well. The best thing our DJ said is that you don't want people on the dance floor then clear the dance floor for something then back to the dance floor. Once dancing startd it never ends until the night was over.

    Okay. I think i have decided the wedding party will arrive early then at 4pm: bridesmaid group entrance & intro, groomsmen group entrance & intro. Bride & groom entrance. Then clear dance floor for 1st dance.

    That sounds perfect Monica!!

    As a bridesmaid I've mingled first then done a grand entrance! Just let your bridal party know beforehand that you want them to clear the dance floor after their entrance and the DJ can do the rest!
