Help on Finding the Perfect Honeymoon Cruise

Dara, on January 17, 2021 at 9:54 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 13

Khristian and I would like to go on a 5-7 day cruise for our Honeymoon, so we can have an adventure right when we become one. I would like to ideally see Europe destinations such as Paris, Venice, Rome, and Greece and Khristian would like to go somewhere warm with beaches. I am hoping someone can help me find a cruise where we can both get what we want, at a reasonable price. We don't want to go over $5,000.00 for the actual cruise. If anyone has any advice of where to look or a specific cruise they would like to recommend, I would love to hear it. Thank you in advance.

Norwegian cruise line seems to be offering relatively cheap seven night cruises around Greek islands and Venice. 2022 prices are around 18-2k if that’s when you’re going on your honeymoon.

We did not have a good experience with Norwegian. Overall everything was bad, the food, the ship, the onboard activities.
My suggestion is to check out each lines website. Carnival, Royal Caribbean, MSC, Celebrity, Princess, Disney and see if anything matches what you want.
I personally like Royal Caribbean as they tend to have really good onboard activities. Carnival is great if you want any more of a party atmosphere. Being a little flexible on the time when you will save you some money. Times when schools are out tend to be more.

We cruise with Carnival & have great experiences with them. I have a lady who I always book with- gives me the best price, best part of the ship & even what side of the ship you want to be on. DM me if you want her info.

Thank you for letting me know that, I did not think about that kind of timing.

Celebrity and Royal Caribbean are our favorite cruise lines. I would suggest for Europe either one of these two brands or MSC cruise lines which is headquartered out of the Med.

You should do a Mediterranean cruise! I went on that cruise with my family about 10 years ago on Costa Cruise Line. We flew to Paris and stayed a few days. Traveled to the south on a train to catch our cruise, it also stopped in Italy, and Spain as well. Since it's the Mediterranean, it's nice weather and Spain had the most beautiful beach towns! But my all time favorite cruise line is Holland America. I did not like the European Cruise lines.

I personally have cruised Norwegian several times and had a great experience, but the ship you're on makes a huge difference (and I think that honestly goes for most cruise lines). The larger ships have way more activities (but also way more people), whereas the smaller ships tend to be more intimate and the crew have more time to spend on you and will even get to know your preferences!

If you've never cruised before, I think a travel agent is the way to go. They will be able to ask you questions about what kind of vacation you're looking for and match you up with the ship that's right for you. I would suggest a travel agent who works with multiple cruise lines, so that you ensure you can get the best fit and not just a spokesperson for the line. For the budget you've cited, I think you will be more successful with one of the mainstream cruise lines (Norwegian, Royal Carribbean, Carnival) and you will likely be in a smaller cabin - but if you're cruising in Europe, you're going to want to spend your time exploring anyway and your cabin is really just a place to sleep between destinations! You may also want to skip things like a speciality dining or drink package and just stick to the free dining on the ship and buy drinks a la carte. Packages make sense when you're on the ship for extended periods of time, but when you're hopping between relatively close ports like in Europe, you are going to spend more time in port exploring and you probably won't get your money's worth out of the packages.

This is good to know! We were checking out prices for Norwegian and they seemed much cheaper than all others.

That’s why we went with them, they were a good bit cheaper.
Our trip was by no means ruined. It just wasn’t what we expected having cruised multiple times before. Our biggest issue was with the food. A PP mentioned they had a nice time on Norwegian, and my parents did as well. Maybe we got unlucky in our choice. I just wouldn’t personally recommend them or cruise with them again. (The included drink package sure was nice though!)
