Help! French Quarter New Orleans suggestions needed!!

Chrysta, on December 18, 2019 at 12:52 PM Posted in Louisiana Planning 0 6

OK ladies, I need your help! I have a deposit on a venue which was to be the site of both our ceremony and reception in the French quarter of New Orleans. However, I have just discovered the amount of people I was told the reception area fits was quite a stretch! The event manager gave me one number, but the food and beverage manager gave me quite a different number! In order to fit the amount of people the event planner told me, my guests will have to be split into two separate rooms! And not even adjacent rooms! I was most certainly never told this. I had assumed obviously our guests would all be in one room. I am absolutely not OK with this. I feel like any guests that are seated in the second room (ie, The room myself, FH, and our families are in) will feel like B-list guests. Any one on here from the New Orleans area, or anyone who has gotten married in the French quarter, do you have any suggestions for affordable locations to have a ceremony and reception?! I am wanting to do it all at one place – preferably a restaurant with a courtyard (so we can have the ceremony in the courtyard and then go inside to eat). Help!!!!

How many people and what do you consider affordable?

It will be about 75 people. The venue we had planned to go with for the reception was approximately $50 pp for dinner and $20 pp for open bar

    Hey Chrysta!

I’m so sorry that this has happened! Are you able to get your deposit back from your original venue, since you are looking for a new one?

Have you checked through the venue search tool? There may be some venue options here that you have overlooked or not come across yet - New Orleans Wedding Venues

That’s going to be a tough price to meet down there. Definitely look at off season and Friday/Sunday.

For restaurants, I love Tableau and Muriel’s, both on Jackson square. If you want, you could do your ceremony at the square or the River right across from it with the square/cathedral in the background and then second line one block to the restaurant.

Thank you for the suggestions! We will still be doing our ceremony at the original venue. There just won’t be enough room for the reception. I’ve contacted lots of places for quotes and have found several that have at least come close to the original venue’s prices. They are a little more, but we are getting a lot more for the money, so it evens out! Now, we are just trying to decide if we are going to go through the hassle of booking a whole new venue, or just drastically cutting down our guest list. Personally, I wouldn’t mind cutting the guest list down to the 50 people for the original venue. heck, I would love to have it at 30 people LOL I have always envisioned a very small, intimate wedding. Unfortunately, I come from an extremely large family, and I know there will be whispers and hard feelings if I don’t invite everyone. Originally, I just wanted to elope to New Orleans! But, as family found out about it, they all started jumping in and wanting to go 🤦🏼‍♀️

No, unfortunately, we would not be able to get our deposit back. I did look through the venue search tool & reached out to several establishments for quotes Smiley smile
