Hawaii/san Fran Honeymoon

Heather, on May 9, 2019 at 1:22 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 8
I’m getting married at the end of September. We are thinking about honeymooning in San Fran/Hawaii. Has anyone visited either or actually done both in one trip? I’m trying to determine how many days we might need in each.. would like to make the drive to Napa if possible during our stay in San Fran as well. I’m think anywhere from 10 days to 14 days (at most) for the entire trip.

I've done both in the same trip (did not do Napa, though) coming from the east coast. 10 - 14 days is a good amount of time, I'd say 14 if you're going to add Napa, and definitely not less than 10 in any case. SO many awesome things to see & do -- you'll just love it!!!!

Awesome to hear! Yes, we will be coming from the East Coast as well. Recommendations of places to stay and see? Especially in hawaii considering all of the different islands..

My fiance and I considering doing the same exact trip for our Honeymoon. We live on the east coast, and are also trying to figure out the number of days we want to take. Would love to know what you are thinking of putting on your itinerary!

We are doing Hawaii, but not SF. We are spending 3 nights in Maui and 4 nights in Oahu. It doesn't even seem like enough time for everything we want to do!

I stayed on Maui the whole time in Hawaii - such a beautiful island, will definitely go back at some point. I am an avid golfer, so golf & beach defined my vacation there (ok, & food & fun umbrella drinks!), but the one other excursion I did do was the Road to Hana - wow - do a helicopter ride for either the to / from leg if you can swing it!!!
San Fran - oh gosh, SO much - Alcatraz for sure, Pier 39, Lombard Street, Ghirardelli Square....all so interesting -- you'll walk and eat for miles!!!!!

I'd say 3-4 days in California, 7-8 days in Hawaii (which would give you three flying days). If you're just doing one island in Hawaii then I think you can get by with 5 or 6 days, but you'll definitely want more time!

For California: I'd definitely add in a trip to Napa or Sonoma. If you can squeeze in an extra day, then head down to Monterey and Carmel as well. Within SF, I think you'll want to check out the Presidio, Palace of Fine Arts, Lands End Trail/Sutro Baths, Chinatown, Golden Gate Park, and Fisherman's Wharf at the very least. Alcatraz would also be cool if you have time for it!

For Hawaii: You really can't go wrong with anything. I'd say Oahu and/or Maui?

We're doing Hawaii - 10 days all spent in Maui and we're coming from the east coast too. We rented an AirBnB and a Jeep so we can do things at our own pace. We plan on doing the Road to Hana and a helicopter tour. FH wants to do some snorkeling too. That's all we really have planned right now but I feel like there's SO much to do!

My wife and I have gone to the Big Island of Hawaii four times for at least eight nights every time and have always stayed on the Kona side. Which island you visit really depends on your personalities and what you want to do there. We like the Big Island because there are no big cities, my wife says it's less touristy (I've never been outside of the airport on Maui), and there is a lot to do. There are also plenty of beautiful beaches (we have a particular favorite) and I love the wide open spaces. If you want night life, though, go to Oahu or Maui. If you are interested in the Big Island and want to hear more about what we've learned during our four trips there, I would happily fill you in. Just message me.
