Hawaii vs. Costa Rica vs. St. Lucia

Miranda , on December 19, 2020 at 6:12 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 10

We are SO torn about honeymoon destinations. Anyone been to two or all of these places and prefer one over the other? FH and I are looking for stunning scenery, best bang for our buck, and activities (snorkeling, volcanoes, mud baths, ATV tours, etc.) other than laying on the beach/by the pool the whole time (although we want to do this on some days!). We love the activity options in Costa Rica, the scenery of Hawaii, and how St. Lucia scenery seems to be most similar to Hawaii without the 11 hour plane ride from Boston. Thoughts??

I personally haven’t been to any of those places, however, my bridesmaids got married in St Lucia, and her wedding photos were actually featured in magazines for how beautiful the background was. So I know that is a good option! Plus they loved everything about it!

Costa Rica is beautiful and the people are super chill. Good place for beaches and nature.

I’d check TripAdvisor for the reviews. However, the best bang for your buck would be St Lucia or Costa Rica. Flights, food & hotels to HI are more expensive- at least when I was combing the internet for honeymoon destinations. We’re going to Jamaica to a Sandals resort which is all inclusive. I was able to get a 1 bedroom honeymoon suite villa with a butler for 7 days for $3949 (for both)!

I have been to Costa Rica and Hawaii. I’m actually getting married in Costa Rica in July! I love the country and there are TONS of things to do. I’ve always described Costa Rica as a more intense Hawaii. The food is great, the people are welcoming, and the nature is breathtaking.

I have been to Hawaii and St. Lucia, and I can say with absolute certainty that you will not be disappointed with either! Both have beautiful scenery and lots of activities. If I HAD to choose my favorite, I would go with Hawaii. It was less “touristy” and the people there are soooooooo nice!! You truly feel like you are in another world. And there were no bugs in Hawaii! Haha
But again, I think you would have a great time at either!

I am planning wedding and honeymoon in Hawaii. And I only can tell you how expensive it is! Deposit paid, so no turning away, but I wish I do a price-quality comparison before we decided on location 😩

I've personally never gone to any of these places but I was married in Jamaica in October. I know that Hawaii doesn't have all inclusive resorts which what we was looking for. We chose Sandals because they're all inclusive and our wedding was free because we stayed longer than 3 days. They gave us the wedding and honeymoon of our dreams.

I’ve been to Hawaii a couple of times and to Costa Rica. I loved both, but I would give a slight lead to Costa Rica. You really can’t go wrong with either. In Costa Rica we stayed at Tabacon which is near the Arenal Volcano in a rainforesty region. It’s not all-inclusive but breakfast is included. The property has hot springs which are amazing and even the water in the hotel rooms is naturally heated by the volcano. Oh, and the spa was incredible! I have been to many spas and this was by far the best. We got massages outdoors and just listened to the natural sounds of the rainforest. And there are a lot of activities, like white water rafting, waterfall rappelling, kayaking in the lake at the base of the volcano. If you can’t tell I would go back in a heartbeat! As far as Hawaii I’ve been to Oahu and Maui. Both islands are beautiful. I just think the experience in Costa Rica is so unique.

I personally have not been to any of these places… But I am newly engaged and we were considering St. Lucia because of the all-inclusive hotels and resorts, and we’ve been looking into activities that we could do there as well. Hawaii seems great but a little less appealing to put on our passports in comparison to Costa Rica and St. Lucia.
