Hawaii vs Caribbean vs Bahamas

Shelby , on April 1, 2018 at 11:34 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 14
I’m so torn! I would like to hear from people who have been to all three.
I have been to the carribean, but I have not been to the Bahamas or Hawaii.
I hear great things about Hawaii, but my question is is it worth the $$$??
They don’t offer all inclusive resorts which the other two options do. So I feel like I will be paying twice the amount going to Hawaii, but is the experience worth it?
Our wedding isn’t for two years, but I’m a planner.
And if you don’t recommend Hawaii - which Island DO you recommend?
We are a little interested in Aruba, St. Lucia, or Nassau.
We love white beaches with clear blue waters, but want to be able to explore the island with lots of activities. Night life is a plus!

Caribbean is better than all three.

If you do the Bahamas, do anything but Nassau or Atlantis.

Hawaii is gorgeous, but expensive, and has a longer flight time depending on where you're coming in from. Oahu has tons of touristy things to do, but the Big Island or any other island is less crowded and less tourist-themed. It's bottom of my list, but only because I lived there and as a non-local it was awful.

We stayed at Sandals Royal Bahamian in Nassau last May and it was amazing! We also did a day trip to Exuma to go swimming with the pigs! I would recommend that resort 100 times over! They have two pools, water sports and lots of entertainment, and they also have an offshore private island that you take a shuttle boat over to and its quiet with private cabanas!

I have been to Hawaii. It's nice, but nothing I am dying to go back to. If you go, I would go to MAUI or somewhere other than OAHU. It is very city like, and I felt like I was at home just surrounded by water... LOL. We are going to Riviera Maya. It all depends on what you want to spend as well. I like the idea of all inclusive resorts, and you are correct they don't have them in Hawaii.

    Thank you!
Yeah, that’s what I am thinking. I’m thinking we will have a great time on the east coast for a 1/2 the cost.

I've been to all three places and rank Hawaii first (it's a stunning place, easy to travel around because it is the good 'ol USA with no language or transportation learning curves), Caribbean second and Bahamas not even on the list.

Same! I absolutely LOVED Hawaii. It’s beautiful, has amazing beaches and awesome food and so much to do. I was on Oahu for a week with friends and we went to a bunch of different beaches, went skydiving over the North Shore, went snorkeling at Hanauma Bay, and ate the best ever seafood. I think it’d make for such an amazing honeymoon. Not an option if you want all-inclusive as you mentioned - but I’m personally not a fan of all-inclusive, I’d rather explore.

The Caribbean has some good spots. St Martin is great, although I’m not sure the island has recovered yet from the hurricanes last year. St Thomas is also really nice. But I’ve been to the Bahamas a few times and didn’t like the feel of it or the beaches nearly as much.

Thank you! I hear a lot of people mentioning Maui if we were to go to Hawaii.
Did you stay in a condo?

No, we stayed in a hotel in Waikiki. I probably wouldn’t stay there again, it’s super touristy, but we were there for a wedding so didn’t choose the spot.

I’ve heard Maui and Kauai are even more gorgeous though!

I’m heading to Maui to get married and then Kauai for our honeymoon. I have never been but I did a ton of research and it sounds absolutely amazing there! So much more to do than just beach plus being in the US was a plus to me.

    Ugh I’m so torn...
Right now I’m stuck between Hawaii, Aruba, or maybe even the Dominican Republic.

Has anyone been to st. Lucia??

Did you want to stay in the US because safety reasons?

For safety reasons and to not have to worry about passports! And Hawaii is just something different and unique in my opinion.
