Hawaii Honeymoon on Budget

Annemarie, on March 28, 2023 at 11:14 PM Posted in Honeymoon 1 8
I would love to go on a honey moon to Hawaii. I feel like I’m all over the place but have started writing things down and trying to research more before deciding on where we head too. We would like to keep our overall budget of possible to $3,000 to $3,500 including airfare.

My fiancé and I are very big Disney fans - although his sister has been to Aulani resort and said that it’s very kid oriented and wouldn’t be honeymoon material. Other option is too that we just get a hotel room somewhere and stay for a few nights. I am okay with a beach but my fiancé wants adventure/excursions.
Any ideas?

Where would you be flying from? We live on the east coast and most of your budget would be used on flights to get to Hawaii right now. Have you considered somewhere in the Caribbean?

We would be flying from Chicago. Would even do a connecting flight and stop in Cali before heading to Hawaii. I am going to a travel agency to explore more options.

I'd definitely recommend checking Southwest's low-fare calendar. Depending on when you'd want to go, I see roundtrip flights for less than $600 each in September, plus you'll get two free checked bags. The Aulani resort is very expensive, so either a hotel or Airbnb would be your best bet as far as cheaper accommodations. Feel free to message me and I can send you more ideas; I'm currently planning our honeymoon for Hawaii too Smiley smile

The Lahaina hotel is amazing on Maui and I would recommend staying in Maui or Kuai or stay at Maui and spend one or two nights in Kuai. It’s so worth it

The only way to do Hawaii on a budget is to live like a local. Rent a short stay apartment and go shopping at the local grocery store instead of eating out. If you prefer a resort, be prepared to spend the money and stay a shorter period of time.

I'm going to be honest with you. There's no Hawaii vacation on a budget. I am one of the cheapest people you would meet and my fiancé and I spent about 15k while we were there. We were there for a week. This was before the pandemic as well....If you can come up with a trick please let me know because that's a vacation that's almost impossible to keep cheap.
