Hawaii honeymoon help!!

Margaret, on June 9, 2019 at 7:54 PM Posted in Honeymoon 1 12
I feel like I'm the only person who would be stressing a Hawaii honeymoon so much! We booked our flights into Honolulu for the last two weeks in September but I don't know where to go from here. We mostly like to go to the beach, easy hiking, going out to different local restaurants, and walking around towns and visiting local stores. I love animals as well, and would like to go to a luau as well. I'm not into snorkeling or ziplining or anything like that. Right now I'm trying to figure out how long to stay in Honolulu (I guess wakiki beach), and where to stay on Big Island. Also trying to decide if I should go to Kauai or Maui. Any help would be great, we're only 3 months out!! Thanks so much.

I went to Hawaii last September - it was beautiful!

On the Big Island, we stayed in Hilo and went to Hilo Market and Rainbow Falls. We also went to Waipi’o Valley Lookout and did a trail ride at Paniolo Adventures. Volcano National Park was great, as well as the Punalu’u Black Sand Beach (lots of sea turtles!). After that we went to Papakolea Beach/South Point which is the "green sand beach" and the southernmost point in the United States. We went kayaking and snorkeling in Captain Cook which was beautiful (but a lot of work to kayak out there, lol!)

In Maui we went to Ho’okipa Beach and Lahaina. The Old Lahina Luau was GREAT - a bit touristy but a must do IMO. The Road to Hana was amazing - tons of fun places to stop along the way. We stayed in Hana so that we could break up the drive. Check the internet for places to stop at the various mile markers. The red sand beach and the lava tubes were my favorite! Twin falls was great to.

Waikiki was great but packed and super touristy. Lots of shopping. A good place for surf lessons or to just rent tubes and float if that's more your speed. Lots of high vantage points near by. We didn't hike Diamond Head but it was pretty to look at. Smiley smile

There's tons to do and flights between islands are very affordable. Make sure to have a malasada from Leonard's Bakery! Have so much fun!

We’ve been to Oahu a couple times and love it! On Oahu you must visit the North Shore. Killer waves, yummy food, and a more chill kind of place. Aulani Luau on the Disney property is amazing, it’s called Paradise Cove. You can also swim with dolphins in their natural habitat out in the ocean! There are also some incredible remote and sexy beaches on the southwest side of the island near Hawaii Kai. Definitely eat the tuna poke while you’re there! Congrats and have so much fun!

Agreed with Kathryn & Brooke! Oahu's North Shore is simply incredible. Depending on how long you want to stay, I highly suggest renting a car. My FH and I went to celebrate our engagement in March. Oahu is small enough where you can reach any of the shores in about an hour. On the west shore, go to Ko'Olina. it's a set of four lagoons that are simply gorgeous and a nice place to relax. TBH, Waikiki is going to be expensive because that's the touristy area of Oahu. We did a day-trip to the Big Island to see the volcano. We stayed with friends, so I can't help you with places to stay. But feel free to send me a pm for more details! I could go on and on about Hawaii. Congrats and enjoy!

We are going to Hawaii in July. 3 nights in Maui, 4 in Oahu. The Feast at Lele is a beautiful luau in Maui, we are doing that. We are staying at the Four Seasons & Turtle Bay in Oahu, and the Royal Lahaina in Maui. We have a snuba trip scheduled in Maui, and an ATV tour at the Kualoa Ranch in Oahu.

Thanks so much! Did you plan this all yourself? Do you think Maui is worth it if we don't do the road to hana? I have alot of anxiety driving roads like that so we were planning on playing it safe and skipping it lol!

Thank you so much. Is there only Disney on that island or is there more to do to make the trip there worth it?

Oh, on Oahu? There’s SO much to do. The Disney property is just the luau that we did. Everything in my other post was all on Oahu! We rented a convertible for the week and drove all around. Each part of Oahu is a completely different landscape, climate, and it stunning in its own ways. I highly advise being mobile and exploring!

I’ve not been to any of the other Hawaiian islands, so you’ll have to let me know what you get to do! Oh, one more secret awesome tip... on Oahu.. make sure you take a car down to “Eternity Beach” by the blowhole on the South side of the island. It’s the most beautiful secluded beach that you hike down to get to.. wear converse or hiking shoes or running shoes to get down... the most beautiful part: the sand has tiny bits of lava in it and it sparkles like diamonds. It’s surrounded by huge cliffs and there’s a lava tube you can go in... it’s literally our favorite beach on the entire planet 💗. Send Oahu my love!!

Ha no I planned 0%! I have a friend whose family is from Hilo and she's been to Hawaii once or twice a year her whole life.

The Road to Hana is definitely stressful in some parts, so if you're not big on narrow, windy roads, I would skip it!
