I have not but there are two resorts that people seem to really like, not on Oahu though. I only know because we were supposed to go on our delayed honeymoon in September and cancelled. And I have been planning my trip to Hawaii for like more than 7 years. Lol 😂

There is the Royal Kona resort on the Big Island. Think volcanos and sun.
And there is the Royal Lahaina Resort on Maui, Maui ain’t cheap but it is what I’ve heard it is great for couples. Honestly planning our new honeymoon to the big island. Someday I’ll get to go.

Congrats! Yes I live on Oahu. I highly recommend Kualoa Ranch for a venue. It is absolutely gorgeous and they have several sites to choose from. It is also a popular site for filming movies/tv (Jurassic Park, Lost, etc). Heeia state park is another pretty venue that is very affordable. Both options let you pick your own vendors. For catering, we are using Aloha on the Rocks. They offer a shave ice bar, which is really fun. We are also getting a VW photo bus instead of a photo booth. Check out Penny Lane photo bus or Photo Bus Oahu.

    You're welcome! Smiley smile

Here are some other vendors we are using

    Floral: La Flor Events

    DJ: Aloha Event DJ

    Photography: Jolene Kaneshige

    Rentals: Main Party Rentals

    HMU: Beauty by May

Hotels: Hotel La Croix and Hale Koa. Hotel La Croix is the one we used for a wedding block. Hale Koa is for military members/vets only. It's 5 mins from Hotel La Croix. If you go with Kualoa Ranch or Heeia State Park for a venue, the only hotel in Kanehohe is Paradise Bay Resort. I reached out to them multiple times about a wedding block and got no response, so we decided not to go with them. But most of our guests are coming from the mainland, so we figured they would want to stay in Waikiki anyway. Plus it's more on the expensive side and we're trying to keep costs down for our guests. Hotel La Croix is super cute and has really great rates. We are providing transportation between the hotels and the venue.

    Transportation: Royal Star Hawaii

We are actually scheduled for a destination wedding in Vegas this October (postponed from last October). But, with life feeling the same as it did last February, I recently tossed out the idea of skipping the Vegas plans and running off to Hawaii and inviting 10-15 people. Unfortunately, instead of our 65 guests, our Vegas venue is only allowing 25 right now. That creates too much of a gamble hoping that number will increase in the next few months. So, I’ve connected with a planning company in Oahu and I’m semi planning 2 destination weddings now 😆 . My Vegas venue is super cool and fine if we cancel (without any penalties). We might lose about $2500 in other deposits. But that’s a small amount and it hasn’t been missed anyway. Either way, want to make a final decision at the beginning of March.

What locations in Oahu have you been looking at?

I’m getting married at Sunset Ranch in north shore 7/22/22. It’s a very unique venue with an ocean view and gorgeous sunset view. Also, when people think of Hawaii they think beachfront. So we also wanted to do something different. I booked the signature package with them which includes in house coordination and allows me to customize the package. Other vendors im hiring are La Flor, DJ Bliss, Chef Elmer/Poke Stop, A Cake Life, Aloha Artisans, and Designed with Aloha, Joseph Esser (photo, video, and photo booth)
    I also researched other venues:
Kuoloa Ranch lends itself to beautiful pictures but it is a very popular wedding venue. And I wanted an intimate, less used venue. But it is a really cool venue!
For resort, Four Seasons Ko Olina is beautiful. For beachfront, Lanikuhonua Cultural Center or Loulu Palms Estate. Have fun planning Hawaii brides 🌺🤍

It all depends on what type of wedding are you going for (ie aesthetic and indoor/outdoor, size) and your budget, have you determined that yet?

There are SO many options on O'ahu!

Beachfront, ranch, waterfall backdrop, garden, tropical rainforest, hotel, cultural/historical sites, chapels with views of the water, golf courses, museums, even "secret" spots where guests must be paddled out on a canoe, literally just about anything! And the great part is, even with all those variations, depending on your budget there are multiple options within each category that as well. Smiley smile

If you're planning to make your own decorations check out JWL Events Hawaii. I just found them, and they offer DIY bride packages to receive and assist with setup of your decorations (among other services!).

I would *HIGHLY* recommend getting a fantastic photographer, check out Shannon Sasaki, she's an award winning wedding photographer and I'm so excited she'll be taking our photos!

    Hi 👋🏽
    Congratulations on your engagement.
I'm getting married March 2022 at the Moana Surfrider Resort. I'm still planning trying to get everyone on board with payments but the venue is booked. The staff is amazing and very helpful.

    Hi Kimberly,

Congrats on your engagement! We are looking at having our wedding at the Moana Surfrider as well. Which spot did you pick? I don't know whether indoor or outdoor is better.

I’m getting married in Maui in September. How’d you pick Oahu? Never been there before but I’m sure it’ll be amazing! I would hire a wedding planner if you haven’t already done so. I did and I honestly feel little stress about picking the vendors since she has vetted them all. Have you started looking at wedding dresses?
