Have you decided how to divide household expenses?

You may be putting it off because it isn’t the most romantic topic to discuss, but it’s so important when starting your life together!

Have you and your fiancé(e) started discussing how you will divide your household expenses?

We'll just join our bank accounts so that everything goes to and comes from the same place

All of our accounts are joint and we both have access to any credit cards that may be in just one of our names. We combined everything a couple of months after we got engaged and things have already been less stressful knowing that it's OUR money, no more "is it my turn or your turn to pay for lunch?" Smiley xd

We will be changing to a joint account. As we plan for me to be a stay at home/home school mom, it just makes sense.

We are going to join our finance once we are back in the US (we are currently living in the Netherlands).

He takes care of most of the big expenses and I pickup any slack.

One of the first things we did is our monthly household budget! Our expenses will come out of a ratio based on our salaries. We'll have a joint savings account and possibly one on for bills. but also keep separate accounts for our own personal things, with money we can use to buy whatever we want (e.g. like if I wanted a new purse).

We also discussed who will be responsible for what around the house.

We have our own accounts and a joint account. He pays the big stuff like mortgage, insurance, and his phone and care payment. While I pay electric bill and internet. Electric isn't high here and internet isn't very high either.

As of now we have separate accounts but a joint savings. We split all bills down the middle. When we get married, we'll have one joint checking account.

Yes, we discussed that upon moving in with one another and then again once we got engaged.

We might make a joint account so it's easier that way but we haven't officially discussed it as of yet. We're still living with his parents right now since we had issues with the last place we stayed at.

We have always split everything. We'll be opening up a joint savings in addition to our pre-existing joint checking account so we can start saving to buy a home.

We split everything for the most part, he pays some bills, I pay others and we split the rent in half. We are planning on opening a joint savings and checking account, but we will keep our own for our spending money (that way we can still surprise each other with gifts Smiley smile). Once we move into a home, I'm sure it'll change with having a mortgage. All bills will come out of joint checking then.

We'll still have our own separate accounts since we were both established financially before we met. We'll open a joint account once we're married for savings, etc...

We're keeping all of our individual bills (like student loans) separate, and are keeping separate bank accounts! Things like household bills we split evenly!

We are going to join all of our bank accounts. We haven't done this yet but plan to do it when we get back from our honeymoon.

FH insists on paying the bulk of the bills since I'm still in college and he has his career. I offered to pay for some things, but he said he wanted me to focus on school. We're keeping our bank accounts separate to start with. We'll see how it works out, and if need be we'll create a joint account
