Has anyone had their hm before the wedding or many months after?

Ok, maybe I am a little superstitious! I dont know if it’s bad luck not to have your wedding right after you get married, the weather doesn’t permit us to do what we want. We’re getting married October 2020 and have finally decided that we want to go back to Italy, and visit Greece of the first time. We want to visit the coast of Italy like Positano, Amalfi Coast, etc. In Greece we want to do a resort. The thing is that the best time to go to Europe for that kind of vacation is either May or September. So, May 2021 or Sept. 2020 is what I’m trying to decide.

Lots of people take delayed honeymoons, for various reasons, need more vaca time, budget, etc.

Never heard of one before though

We’re getting married next Saturday and going to Maui in January. The way I see it, we get to space the expenses, escape dreary Chicago in January, and still have something to look forward to after wedding madness is done.

Delayed honeymoons are pretty typical. Going on a vacation before your wedding is just that, a vacation.

I agree with PP in that it would just be a vacation if it’s before you get married. People go on delayed honeymoons all the time.

Our wedding is in 3 weeks, but due to his work schedule (Navy) and mine, we will not be taking out honeymoon until New Years.

Definitely common to have a late honeymoon. Our wedding is August next year but due to weather, we won't be going until February 2021. Because of that, we will be doing a mini-moon weekend at Disneyland right after our wedding to still do a little something and have that little break.

Our honeymoon will be about six weeks after our wedding. Its definitely not uncommon to have a delayed honeymoon. We're doing it so we don't have to take as much time off of work since we will both be on holiday break when we go.

I probably wouldn't go before the wedding. A month before you get married I imagine you'll be down to the grind and wanting to be home to make sure everything is taken care of and that you have all the details figured out. Plus, if you go before your wedding it won't really be a honeymoon. Plenty of people do wait. I will there's always pros to going anywhere at any time of year! I would recommend you talk to a travel agent to plan your honeymoon. They can give you advice and tips and help you plan the perfect getaway. My husband and I went on a Mediterranean cruise December 2018 and it was incredible! it was a little chilly then, like we couldn't sit out in bathing suits or anything, but it was still amazing! I think it would still be nice enough in October that you would be able to enjoy yourselves if you went right after the wedding. But definitely talk to a travel agent and see what they say!

I'm definitely having a delayed honeymoon, but not by choice. We're getting married at the beginning of next May, but I unfortunately need to return to work the following Tuesday--I'm a gameplay engineer and we'll be in the middle of production on a video game, so I can't afford to take time off right at that time. And THEN I have to move out of my apartment by the end of the month--I have a lot of stuff.

And THEN we already have a vacation planned for my birthday in August in Anaheim for both a Star Wars convention AND Disneyland. We're going with my fiance's son and his friend, so definitely NOT a honeymoon Smiley winking

Honestly, I have no idea when we'll even be able to go on our honeymoon. We could try to cram something in late June or July, but that's honestly not so good from a weather/temp standpoint. It's looking more like October at this point.

That sound like a good idea! My fiancé and I talked and I shared the feedback and we decided to do a few days within the states and then go on our honeymoon next year.
