Halloween in November?

Samantha, on July 26, 2021 at 10:28 PM Posted in Style and Décor 0 11
My fiance and I were pretty dead set (heh get it) on an October fall/Halloween tinged wedding. I want black lace and pumpkins and everything fall and fun! I was even thinking about using teal and orange as wedding cookies because I like how bold they are.

So here is the conundrum: we are poor. We have a venue that we *think* we can afford, a beautiful ski lodge in my home state. We would be able to afford it even more if we switched the date. Off season starts in November. Would a fall/Halloween wedding not work?
I feel like November leans away from the fun bold style of Halloween in October and more towards a lighter color, natural pampas grass, harvest sort of feel. What do you all think? Keep it October so it makes sense? Switch up our theme and choose November so it makes sense? Or somehow squish an October themed wedding into a November date? (The date would be first weekend of November, so the 5th probably which is also our anniversary anyway)..

In Hispanic cultures, Dia De Los Muertos is celebrated from 1st to 5th of November and is very bright along with dark.

You could do autumn the entire month of November obviously (winter doesn’t start until the end of December) but Halloween is more suited to October.
At a ski lodge, be prepared for lots of snow. When I was growing up until recently, ski season always started mid-October so venue rentals are not available at that time.

Honestly I think you should go ahead with what you like, irrespective of date! And if it makes it more affordable, I don't see why you shouldn't have it a bit later if that suits you better.

We're having a peachy, pink, ivory and fresh spring green colour scheme and it's supposed to be in our spring season, so perfect - but then due to covid we might need to postpone. Our wedding might end up being in summer or autumn or even winter! But I'm not changing the colours I've always dreamed of having due to that! So I say do what makes you happy - it's your day!

I think those colors would still be fine in November, especially if it's cold. You could do something kinda gothic-feeling even if not strictly Halloween. The pumpkins may seem out of place, though. Maybe ask your florist for suggestions!

I forgot about Dia de Los Meurtos! What a beautiful holiday that is!
Thanks for the advice. In the past it has snowed in Halloween but in recent years sometimes snow doesn't even show up until January!! It's been wild. I'll have to check when the mountain starts making thier own snow too!

That's a good point! I can always talk to a florist, or the venue coordinator too. I'm glad you think those colors could still work out, I am so partial to them!

I think Nov works great for your theme! But if you want Oct, have you asked the venue about cheaper rate options? Perhaps a Sunday brunch? Or weekday night wedding (usually Sun-Thur)?

Thank you for your input! We are considering Sunday evenings to keep it cheap as well. Weekdays don't work for me, I'm a teacher!

I think Sunday evening would be great, at long as it doesn’t end late (by 8 or 9 pm)!
