Hair & Makeup Timing?

Caryn, on August 31, 2023 at 10:44 AM Posted in Hair and Makeup 1 2

My ceremony is at 6 pm. We will be doing a first look and some pictures before, but just us and immediate family (my parents and our kids) since we will not be having any attendants. I am going to a salon for hair and makeup since it's just me.

I am having my trial tomorrow, so if I like it I plan to book the actual day. What time should I book for? I'm thinking I should be done around 3 with first look at 4 and photos at 4:30/5. Is that too early? Too late?

I want my hair and makeup to be reasonably fresh, but I also don't want to be rushed if things run a little late.

I would speak with your photographer and the stylist at the salon. They should both be able to give to estimates of what time to start based on how long they think the hair and makeup and first look photos should take.

I would book for 10 or 11am. It could take 1-3 hours. Then travel time to where you’re getting ready. Then putting dress on. Then travel to first look if needed. Also you should have a snack!

I agree with previous posted that you shouldn’t book until you speak with your photographer about timing. I also think the earlier the better. Most makeup artists use products that are meant to last all day!
Good luck with whatever you decide!
