Got the “feeling” for a dress but my wedding is....

Jacquelene, on December 15, 2019 at 9:23 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 11
...in 2021!

We were walking through Nordstrom and my fiancé pushed me towards the Bridal Suite area. I looked around a little and then...I saw it. A wedding dress that, literally, made me cry when I picked it up. I put it up to me and my fiancé said, “That’s you! That’s your style.”
But my wedding is in October 2021! We have our venue, DJ, photographer and videographer booked. That’s what I say to myself when I think I should go try it on. But.... It’s a 2019 dress and we have quite a few seasons of dresses.
Opinions?

Unpopular opinion; I would never buy a dress that early. It’s really easy to get “that feeling” over the very first dress you’re drawn to because, well, it’s the first time you’re really seeing yourself in a wedding dress. Also, your body can change so much in 22 months. There’s no telling if it’ll still fit.

A white wedding dress isnt going to go out of style in a year or two.
They all pretty much look the same.

I wouldn't buy it. Take down the designer and style and wait another year. You see far too often on these forums of ladies having dress regret. With this far out you may be tempted to keep looking at dresses online and that feeling of regret may come up. I'd personally wait.

I also think you should try it, note the designer and style number, but try others. It’s a long time, and a lot of opportunity to develop dress regret. If you’re still loving it after trying more, then you’ll know to come back and get it.

Time doesn't matter, when you know you just know. I purchased my dress in 2017, for my 2020 wedding. I've had no regrets and still get giddy and smile when I look at it.

Thanks to everyone for their feedback. My fiancé convinced me to make an appointment to try on the dress by telling me he’d only seen the look I had on my face three other times:

    So we will see!

I would say if you love it get it BUT I would highly advise not to go looking at any other wedding dresses after you've picked yours. You don't want to have dress regret and I feel like that normally happens when you continue to look at dresses even after purchasing yours.

I feel like I'd buy it if the price was right aha. Like if it was so ridiculously cheap you couldn't not buy it aha.
