Ghosted by my Venue?

Priscilla, on January 24, 2024 at 10:30 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 5

I am at the beginning of our wedding planning, trying to pick a venue. We found one and where about to sign a contract in December for a September 2024 wedding when had a series of misfortune (my fiance's dad passed and I found out I was pregnant but later had a miscarriage). We decided that we wanted to scale down the wedding and push it up to June/July so we can still have a wedding if I get pregnant again.

We decided on restaurant wedding and found an AMAZING location. I contacted them and they were responsive and answered all my questions literally within hours of sending emails. We are now ready to move forward with them and asked for a proposal for the cost so we can compare our budget and I'm not getting any response. I've sent emails - no response. I've called the events manager and the phone seems to be disconnected. i called the main restaurant and all they did was take my info and said they would give them the message.

We are getting behind on proper time lines to get STD out and I wondering if I should wait on my dream location or move on to another?

How long has it been since you first tried to contact them with no response? If it's been multiple weeks, then that's a concern. Are you able to visit them in person to try to get some answers? Getting no communication for weeks is a red flag, especially as you're trying to pay a deposit. If this is how their communication is now, it probably won't get better once you book. If no luck in person (or if they don't have a good explanation for ghosting you), I would definitely move on to a different venue.

Tomorrow makes 2 weeks from the last time they responded to me. I always give a week grace period for people who may take time off but I figured one of the team members would be able to pick up from the main manager. I'm hoping there is good explanation but each day is making me more nervous.

Yes, they finally responded about 2 days after this post and apologized profusely. Apparently, the messaging system they use went down and no messages were getting through. The offered a discount for the meal package, so we decided to move forward. I haven't had any issues since.
