Getting Hopeful! (july 4 Wedding)

John Smith, on May 7, 2020 at 10:12 AM Posted in Maryland Planning 0 5

Governor Hogan (Maryland) announced yesterday that if the current trends continue into next week he will start phase 1 of the plan to reopen the state! If we get to phase 2 I think we'll be all set to have the wedding (probably with a smaller number, but it was a relatively small wedding to begin with). This is the first glimmer of hope we've had for months and I am so excited! We're not making any decisions until May 20th (people will be getting invites a little late haha), so we have until then to see how things progress. I just need the US to re-open its borders!

My extended family in the UK likely won't come because of health concerns, so we'll likely do another celebration in the UK at the end of August, which will be a lot of fun (and an excuse to wear my dress again and get photos on the gorgeous Irish countryside).

Anyone else starting to feel hopeful? Even if we have to postpone the main wedding a month, at least now we're moving in the right direction!

I live in MD too! I had go postpone from May 30 to Aug 29! So the fact that we are hopefully moving into phase 1 soon has me hopefully that I do not need to move my date again. But we shall see how it turns out. The best of luck to you!

I'm July 11th in MD too! I'm still holding out. Almost all of our guests are local so that is really helpful. Hoping to be in phase two by then.

My wedding was sch for July 11 and last week the venue forced me to make a decision to postpone or cancel so now I am trying to find a plan C (plan B was a smaller wedding but same place). So stressful to plan a wedding for over a year and then be at square 1.

Despite moving towards Phase I, there is still a restriction on size of gatherings, still 10 people. Not the entire state is opened either. My county and where my wedding venue are haven't moved into Phase I yet. My wedding is August 29 and I highly doubt he will be allowing large gatherings by then. I've moved away from being hopeful to realistic at this point. Just waiting it out so I can cancel without penalty.
