Georgia 2020 brides? Or any Covid 2020 bride, really

Annie, on August 4, 2020 at 9:19 PM Posted in Georgia Planning 0 3
We’re getting married on October 24th, 2020 in our backyard north of Atlanta. We wanted a short engagement (Engaged in Feb 2020) and a small, simple wedding. I was just wondering what other GA Covid brides are planning (Or have planned) to keep their guests safe but still have a fun, Covid friendly celebration. How are you handling social distancing? Are you requiring masks? How will food and drinks be handled? Will you have dancing?

I am only have three guests attend our wedding but not requiring masks since no reception but if they want to they can but easier to social distance. I will say my MOH is hosting a bridal brunch for me which with us two could be 20 people if all invited show up. I will require masks and there will be mini hand sanitizers as gifts because most of those are teachers like me and they have partners and kids and I do not want to risk giving COVID to anyone. If they do not want to wear a mask I am okay them not attending but God forbid anyone catches it. Truthfully I may reduce the guest list. Hmmm food I would not do buffet rather plated or maybe pre packaged. How many people are you thinking to have? I would take a lot of precautions because people with COVID can be asymptomatic.

I’m in Missouri which has no restrictions but numbers are currently going up. Our wedding is 10/10/2020. Our venue sent out some guidelines earlier this summer. We are only allowed 100 guest inside the venue but can seat guest outside if necessary. Our venue suggested plated dinners but because we are in a rural area, that’s not really an option so we are sticking with buffet. Our caterers will be wearing mask and cleaning constantly. Hand sanitizer everywhere, including little personal ones at each table. Mask will be available but not required. I won’t be doing a dollar dance anymore. I know we aren’t taking much precautions and I’ve felt very guilty about it but I’ve also watched all our family members take vacations to hot spots and go to large gatherings.

Hi Annie! Everything varies widely by what's going on in your local area, and what your local restrictions include!

Here I've rounded up a few other discussions that have touched on some of your same questions: Reception Dancing or No?, Covid brides, did you..., Covid-19 Precautions, Wedding reception during covid 19, and Summer Brides - what precautions are you taking?

You can also check out recently posted wedding pictures from our weekly round-up, to see what other couples' weddings have looked like: Last week's wedding photos, engagement pictures, and more! 📷
