Fun Places to Pop the Question?

Pirate & 60s Bride, on June 21, 2019 at 7:54 PM Posted in Parties and Events 1 66

What are the most romantic, wild, weird or wonderful places you've heard of people popping the question? What about your proposal?

Mine was a surprise destination! I had no idea. None. My hubby is quite the trickster and planned spontaneous trips before. He wanted a day trip for his b-day. Great. Then he wanted to spend the night (we hadn't had a vaca in a year). Yay. The day-of he told me to take out liquids, we were getting on a plane. Wait, what? We deplaned, drove a car to... Scottsdale, AZ. WOW. When the gorgeous Omni upgraded us to a freakin' villa I thought it was his b-day karma!!! After dinner there he convinced me to walk over to a fireplace to sit and relax (I was complaining my shoes hurt--lol). He proposed by the fireplace. Stunned, I said "YES!"

I kind of wish I had a better proposal story. I knew he was going to propose and the day it happened, I knew it was coming right then. We were having a late (December 30th) family Christmas party for his family. Unfortunately, my mom had the flu and couldn't be there. I know it still makes her sad that she missed the event. My FH came up to me and said we needed to do something upstairs. I met him in his room and he got down on one knee and held out a ring box and said "will you marry me?" He told me later that he had a speech ready and it all flew out of his head in the moment. Sometimes I wish I'd heard the speech, but it doesn't matter in the long run. What matters is that he proposed and I said yes!

WOW! What a fantastic story! Makes me wish ours was more interesting 😂 we had been discussing getting engaged for the past month or so, and I knew he had bought a ring already but he was waiting for the “perfect moment.” We were just hanging out in our living room and then started talking about marriage and I started jokingly asking him when he was going to propose already. He was like “yeah you know what, screw it, I’m not waiting for a perfect moment, I’ll just make this moment perfect” and then he pulled out the ring and asked me to marry him. I was in complete shock and disbelief and just kept saying “oh my god are you serious? Like actually???” Hahaha. Probably could’ve had a better story if we were more patient but 🤷🏻‍♀️ I think it’s also sweet that he just couldn’t want anymore 😁

He proposed on our living room floor during the NFL draft. For me, it was the most perfectly romantic thing that ever happened.

What a beautiful story you have!
I had my dream proposal when I didn’t think it was possible. So I’m a bit obsess with Paris, my dream vacation and proposal but I always said I wanted to be surprise when I got engaged so when I started planning a trip to Paris with my boyfriend I knew the proposal was out of the question. It was just too obvious... well I was wrong. I had my dream vacation, we stayed next to the Eiffel Tower, woke up to that view everyday, visited every museum out there so it was perfect so far. Two days before our trip ended we went to Trocadero for some pics I wanted to take. My boyfriend was the one taking pics but for some reason my camera was acting up and the lighting wasn’t so good. So he went to talk to the photographer at there at the plaza to see if we can take some pics together. That’s what he first told me but then the photographer starts taking pics of just me and in that moment I realize he just wanted me to have my dream photos by a professional. Well I wanted some professional pictures with him so I called him in to take some shots together. The photographer proceeded to take some shots and then he got down on one knee and proposed to me in a plaza full of people, all eyes on us and I just didn’t expect it. He had a full speech and it was beautiful.
Backstory: My husband had this plan for years. He knew he would propose to me in Paris and he was patient and he had me fooled. He always make remarks of flash mobs or proposals in public places. He said that was a private moment and he could never do that in public. Of course he said he had to say those things to make sure I never guessed and it would take me by surprise.

We had planned a day trip to NOLA. We were supposed to go to this museum we had been talking about going to for years, and then H was "well I've never been to Jackson Square" - and I said he *had* to visit Jackson Square at some point. Well, the museum and Jackson Square were nowhere near each other, so we decided to do Jackson Square and just hang around the French Quarter for the day. Little did I know the actual plan for the morning. We went, parked the car, and were talking about beignets and coffee. The line was pretty long (as always) but I said it's just going to get longer, so let's just wait it out. We got our stuff, and went and sat in the Square to eat them, and then began wandering toward the cathedral. I turned away to look at something, and when I turned back he was down on one knee! It was amazing and a complete surprise (he had flat told me that was not the weekend). When he gave me the letter he wrote for the wedding, I discovered that this had been the plan all along. It was wonderful.

Such a fun story!! Smiley heart Congrats!

I love my proposal story! My FH was a firefighter, On Valentine's Day of 2013 he took me to his fire hall. We had the whole place to ourselves. At the bar he had flowers, presents, candles and My favorite dinner (chicken Alfredo) waiting for me! We ate and just spent time together! When we were done, He went into the firetruck bay to look at the trucks, I followed, He climbed up on the truck and I joined him. He got down on one knee and said the most beautiful speech! I started to cry in joy of course! He finally at the end asked me to Marry him and I said yesssss! What make it so great to me, was he asked me to marry him on the firetruck I found the company!! Smiley heart Afterwards we called and told our families! They were all very happy for us! Smiley heart

He was very lucky you are so easy-going! You could have pushed for the museum. And he must have been dying waiting in the long coffee & beignet line. And I can’t believe you turned away to look at something, as if on cue! 💍

How different! On a firetruck, at a fire station??? How sneaky & sweet to plan it on Valentine’s Day... all of those romantic decor items seemed special for the holiday and didn’t give away the biggest surprise of all. Very happy for you both!!! 🌹

He proposed to me in an escape room. My ring was where the final key was. Our first date was an escape room and we did a ton more after that so it kinda became our thing ❤️

He proposed to me at Sunset Cliffs in San Diego, at sunset. I did not expect it at all! We go on a big vacation every year and that year it was San Diego. It was our first night there, just hours after we landed. I knew he started ring shopping a week prior so I definitely was not expecting the proposal on the trip cause I wasn’t even expecting a ring to have been purchased or ready yet. On our drive to the cliffs, Perfect by Ed Sheeran came on the radio. I absolutely love that song and was singing along to it. He gave away nothing at any point. No nerves, acting weird, etc. The only time he was acting weird was when we got to the cliffs and we were finding a spot to set up our blanket. It was a pretty empty night out with plenty of space, but he wouldn’t set the blanket down!! He finally found the right spot he wanted and we set the blanket up and I was getting comfy, ready to watch the sunset as he was pulling out a bottle of champagne from his backpack along with the ring box!

First time I got married, he proposed in a cute way. He didn't have a ring, but he gave me a single red rose and told me that he loved me and that he wanted a future with me. As he gave me the rose, he asked me if I would marry him. I said yes.

This time around there wasn't a proposal. We were talking about marriage and if we would ever get married again. Shortly afterwards he would refer to me as his wife. No ring (I was ok with that), I didn't have a ring the first time. But, after a few months I told him that I would really like to have an engagement ring this time and he said ok. But, a few weeks ago we went to a couple of stores and started looking at rings. I told him the two that I really liked and he were to choose which one. So, about a week later he showed me that a package arrived in the mail and it was my ring. He took the box out of the package and slipped the ring on my finger.

We were in Las Vegas for a family trip and on our last night, we adventured off ourselves. I gave him a tour of the city and we did lots of fun things. The last thing on our list was the Eiffel Tower, we planned to go on it a few weeks prior because it was his first time in Vegas and it’s been years since I went on it. We went during the night so we could see the city lit up. When we got up there, it was absolutely cold, rainy, and windy. But, he pulled me to the side where no one was on (the windy & rainy side) and said he wanted to marry me. Before this, the past five days he had been jokingly getting down on one knee to make it seem like he was going to propose so I never took him serious. So when he said that, I said I wanna marry him too. Then, he got down on his knee and I was like, “You’re dumb. Get up.” and then he pulled out the ring saying, “Is it a joke now?”

Totally not romantic but the perfect proposal never the less!
