Ft lauderdale vs Key West bachelorette party

Danielle, on June 24, 2019 at 1:50 PM Posted in Florida Planning 0 8
Looking for suggestions for a bachelorette party!
Was looking into areas in Florida, but open to other suggestions
I think key west would be ideal, but may be a little expensive for some people flying from the west coast
it seems like ft lauderdale would be the most cost-effective option, just wondering if the beach/bar scene is nice enough?

Heres my Jam! I live in Florida and these were our prime areas. The keys are beautiful BUT very expensive (to rent a house for 8 people for a weekend was $600 a piece and that was just the lodging). Miami is a cheaper alternative while still getting the beautiful Keys type weather and scenery and night life but still is expensive as well but you can take a boat trip to the Bahamas (boat boards at 7am) for the day for like $75 a person and it would be an all day thing super cheap. Last time I did it, I spent maybe $150 on the boat ride, food and fun activities for the day, so much fun. Ft. Lauderdale is beautiful and does have a bar scene but it won't be as abundant as those areas. It will ultimately depend on what all you want. If you want crazy partying and night clubs and bars I'd do keys or Miami. If you want beach houses and a decent nightlife (mostly strips with bars lining them) I would go with ft. Lauderdale. We are doing Fort Myers and its not super partying but there is a cool stretch of bars we plan on hitting while staying in a beach house. So we get to spend days on the beach and nights at the bars!

Hi Cassi! I should have added that a lot of the girls coming on my bachelorette are my college friends and we went to Miami for spring break so we’re trying to find a new fun spot!

Then I would look into the Keys (it definitely is costly though) so not sure how much they are wanting to spend for the trip with airfare and what not too but the keys is A LOT of fun.

Do you think ft lauderdale is a good alternative? Trying to find something convenient/affordable for everyone. I’ve heard great things about the keys but don’t know much about ft lauderdale

Fort Lauderdale has better options than Key west as far as beach. Night life and bars are both about the same. For key west houses are all close by so no problem there but Fort Lauderdale offers bigger homes and more variety but not necessary next to the beach. If you do Key west you might need to rent a boat to have an actual nice beach experience. Some houses have it included in the rent or have an option to rent it on the side.
Have you consider Miami instead? Is a bit more expensive but guaranteed to have a great time. A better beach and much better night life then the others.
You can also consider a road trip if you pick key west and have everyone fly to Fort Lauderdale or Miami and drive there instead of flying straight in.

My hubby went to Ft Lauderdale for his bachelor party, and while he had fun and loved the beach/ fishing, he said it's just as expensive as the keys or even Miami (just not table/bottle service in order to get into the clubs). Would you agree, Cassi?

Personally I disagree. I live in florida and these are pretty common weekend get aways for us and i definitely notice the keys are more expensive. While it's not cheap by any means it's not quite as expensive as the keys or miami. It's the equivalent of going to like siesta key or lido beach (on the gulf/bay side) it is still a tourist destination so it's more expensive than drinking at like a bar in Sarasota or a smaller less touristy town but it is still definitely cheaper than the keys (especially lodging).
