Formal reception events

What does your tentative timeline look like? Is it structured or go with the flow? Is there enough time for everything you want to do or do you have to cut something out? What events are you having and what are you skipping? For example: formal dances, dinner, greeting guests, cake cutting, tosses, toasts, late night snacks, etc. Does this include an “after party” at the same venue or elsewhere?

We were going to include a bouquet toss, not because I wanted to but because the florist recommended it and said it's still popular. I was neutral. But then we went through our whole guest list and there are only a handful of unmarried women who would do it (literally 5 out of 230 guests), so we're removing it. It would be anticlimactic for the DJ/emcee to say "all right ladies!!! Time for the bouquet toss!!!" and like five people come up and have a whole crowd watching, lol.

We're not doing an afterparty but are doing the traditional cocktail hour (full open bar) followed by a dinner reception that will include the Grand Entrance, toasts, first dance (and father/mother dances), and cake cutting.
