Food Trucks in Connecticut (new Haven area)

Krissy, on December 17, 2018 at 10:01 AM Posted in Connecticut Planning 0 9

Has anyone booked a food truck for their wedding on 5/16/2020? FH and I are looking to book a taco truck and a pizza truck and would like recommendations ? What was your experience like? What did you do for cocktail hour food? We will be getting married at The Carousel at Lighthouse Point Park.

TIA for your help and recommendations!!

Hey Krissy! So I searched the WeddingWire vendor directory and only found an ice cream truck in the New Haven area. But, then I went on to Yelp and found a bunch of pizza and taco trucks (none that serve both, unfortunately, but wouldn't that be cool?)! I would suggest going on to Yelp and seeing if any of those trucks pique your interest, read through the reviews there, and give them a call.

You could also check with the coordinator of The Carousel and see if they've ever had food trucks there. If they have, then you can ask for a list of which ones they've worked with in the past. If they haven't, then you can have the discussion if it's okay to have a food truck at their venue and see if there are any local recommendations. Smiley smile

When were you planning on having these food trucks? As your wedding dinner, late night snacks, cocktail hour?

Omg! That's my date and we almost did that same thing (sorry, for some reason that's really exciting to me)! When I was looking into it, I was using http://www.ctfoodtrucks.com/ and looked up reviews for the ones that sounded interesting. The New Haven area is perfect. They have amazing food trucks that line up right near the Yale hospital. I would do some "research" by going there and eating all of the delicious food there lol

I'm getting married at LPP too and originally we were going to use a food truck but ultimately decided that a lot of or crowd might not be down for it as much as we are, haha. Things to remember with food trucks are that they don't necessarily provide enough staff to keep things moving (busing, making sure food is arranged, etc) and to assist with set up/break down. When I got quotes I found the best 2 to be Seaside Sliders (amazing menu for a great price). Anthony is very responsive to emails and offers essentially full service minus linen rental (provides enough staff to help set up and break down and make sure food is always on the serving table). We're considering him for desserts at the end of the night. Another truck I had good prices and communication from was Taco Loco.

My coworker had a taco truck at her wedding for dinner, light fare for cocktail hour like meatballs and shrimp cocktail & her cake was actually a Rice Krispie cake. She’s very non traditional it was a good time. She got married in Coventry I can ask her what was the name of the food truck she used

    Hello!
I work at a college in the New Haven area and we hire food trucks quite often for campus wide events. The pizza truck we usually hire is the New Haven Pizza Truck. It is an old fire truck that was retrofitted with a brick oven. The owner is an angel and let people ask for certain toppings if nothing they liked was out. He also offered me my own personal customized pizza to go at the end of the event lol. I'm unsure about taco trucks but I 100% recommend that pizza truck.
